Leicester City vs Burnley: Recommended bets

101 Great Goals’ prediction of Leicester 2 – 0 Burnley is available at odds of 8/1.

4-2 Leicester win. We got goals galore the last time these sides met in Leicester as the Foxes ran out winners by a 4-2 margin. A repeat of this score on Saturday looks unlikely but is available at odds of 51/1.

1-1 draw. The last match in this head-to-head was a 1-1 draw in Burnley back in March. Odds of 8/1 are available if you see this match finishing with the same result.

0-1 Burnley win. Burnley have never won a Premier League match in Leicester in 6 attempts as visitors here. You need to go back to 2006 when both clubs were in English football’s 2nd tier to find Burnley’s last away win in this head-to-head. You can back them at 17/1 for the same scoreline here on Saturday.

Over 2.5 goals. Leicester vs Burnley has typically been a high scoring game during the Brendan Rodgers era, with 4 of the 5 matches finishing with over 2.5 goals. You can back another high scoring game here on Saturday with odds of 1.9/1 for over 2.5 goals.

BTTS. The last 5 matches in this head-to-head have all seen both teams getting on the scoresheet. You can back Both Teams To Score here once again at 1.95/1.

Chris Wood Goalscorer. No player on the pitch on Saturday will have more goals in this head-to-head than Chris Wood. Wood (pictured below) scored against Burnley in his only match against them with Leicester in the Championship during the 2013/14 season.

Since joining the Clarets in 2017 for nearly £15m, the striker has 4 goals in 8 Premier League games against the Foxes, including 3 in his last 4 appearances. The New Zealand international is 8.5/1 to score the game’s opener on Saturday. Or 3.5/1 to bag a goal at any time during the game against his former club.

Leicester City vs Burnley: What are the betting odds?

The Foxes have won 4 of their last 5 home matches in this head-to-head and are 1.53/1 to take all 3 points again from Burnley on Saturday.

Whereas, The Clarets are 6.5/1 to pick up their first away win in Leicester in the Premier League.

Odds of 4/1 are available if you see Leicester and Burnley cancelling each other out on Saturday, just as they did when the sides last met back in March.

Leicester City vs Burnley: Match preview

The season started with so much promise for Leicester. They signed highly regarded youngsters Patson Daka, Boubakary Soumaré and Ademola Lookman as well as the experienced Premier League defensive duo of Jannik Vestergaard and Ryan Bertrand.

The Foxes then claimed Manchester City’s scalp in the traditional curtain-raiser of the season: the Community Shield. This was followed up with a 1-0 midlands derby win over Wolves on the opening day of the Premier League campaign. Jamie Vardy was asked about a possible Leicester City title bid on Match of the Day immediately following that match.

However, things went rapidly downhill from there, starting with Ayoze Perez’s red card in a 4-1 beating at West Ham. This started a run of 3 defeats in 4 in the Premier League.

Their opening game of the Europa League campaign then saw the Foxes throw away a 2-goal lead at home to Napoli with just 26 minutes left on the clock. Wilfred Ndidi’s late red card merely adding insult to injury in that match.

A 0-2 win at Millwall in the League Cup in midweek marked their first in 4 games. The concern will be the need to name such a strong XI for the match in a competition which sides competing in Europe often look to rotate their players in during the early rounds.

They couldn’t have picked a worse game to go into with tired legs, either. Burnley have been criticised for playing rugby and being a wrestling team at times this season by opposition managers and in the media.

Leeds’ Patrick Bamford accused James Tarkowski of performing “some weird jiu-jitsu” on him during their match before the international break. Regardless of where you stand on the issue of their physicality, it is clear that Burnley’s reputation precedes them for being a tough, aggressive side.

Will a Leicester side low on confidence and perhaps with tired legs struggle against the Greco-Roman Clarets? Or will Brendan Rodgers’ boys survive the Guillotine of Burnley here?

Leicester City team news vs Burnley

Nampalys Mendy is yet to feature for Leicester this season due to a groin injury.

James Justin (above) is still on the long road back from an ACL injury. It could be late October or early November before we see him in action again, at the earliest.

Wesley Fofana also remains on the long-term injury list after his horrific injury in pre-season. We likely won’t see Fofana back in action until 2022.

Patson Daka hasn’t featured for Leicester since their 2nd match of the season, and has only managed 28 minutes of Premier League football in total since signing for the club in the summer. However, his 20-minute cameo appearance in midweek suggests that he could be involved at the weekend, albeit from the bench.

Ayoze Perez is back following a three-match ban due to his red card against West Ham. He is expected to replace James Maddison on the right wing, who was disappointing last weekend against Brighton.

Jonny Evans completed 90 minutes in midweek against Millwall in the League Cup. However, it is unlikely we will see him thrown back into Premier League action. Therefore, Söyüncü and Vestergaard are expected to continue in central defence.

Burnley team news vs Leicester City

Dale Stephens has missed every Burnley match this season so far due to an ankle injury. As Sean Dyche doesn’t provide timescales for injuries, no return date has been provided.

Similar to Stephens, Kevin Long is yet to feature due to a lower leg injury that has been troubling him since the last campaign. He did manage over an hour against Wolves U23s earlier this month, and could be nearing a return to action. Long isn’t expected to be involved here, though.

Connor Roberts is yet to feature since his £2.6m signing in the summer due to groin and thigh problems. Like Long, he may make an appearance for the U23 side to build up some match fitness.

Josh Brownhill suffered a dead leg against Arsenal. The injury ruled him out for the match against Rochdale in midweek but he is expected back in action here.

Wayne Hennessey turned his ankle when practising penalties before the Rochdale clash. Will Norris will be Pope’s deputy here, should Hennessey fail a fitness test.
