Leeds United vs Crystal Palace: Match preview

Leeds United were defeated 2-1 by Everton on Wednesday as they dropped into 11th place.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side prior to the defeat had produced consecutive wins defeating both Leicester and Newcastle.

Although, three points on Monday would lift them above Arsenal and into the top half.

Leeds remain the side with the second-most goals conceded this season, but to counter that, only four sides have scored more than them.

Their erratic form has also seen them win 9 and lose 10 in an unpredictable league campaign.

Palace secure back to back wins

Crystal Palace have secured back to back wins in their last two matches defeating both Wolves and Newcastle.

On Tuesday, the Eagles came from behind to beat Steve Bruce’s side and climb into 13th.

Roy Hodgson’s men have the chance to climb above Leeds and as high as 10th with a win at Elland Road.

Given Leeds’ incredible goal scoring form this season, Hodgson will need to find a way to shore up their defence on Monday.

Only three teams have conceded more than the south London club this term, although one of them being Leeds.

They will be without star player Wilfried Zaha, who is out with an injury.

Therefore, Palace will be looking to the likes of Eberechi Eze to step up in his absence and take advantage of Leeds’ inconsistent back-line.

Leeds United team news vs Crystal Palace

Leeds have been dealt a big blow with Rodrigo Moreno expected to miss several weeks.

The striker suffered a groin injury against Leicester and is out for a while.

Ian Poveda is also set to miss a number of weeks with an ankle injury.

Gaetano Berardi, Diego Llorente, Adam Forshaw and Robin Koch all remain sidelined for the clash.

Pascal Struijk has been forced to drop into the centre of defence for Leeds in the absence of Llorente and Koch.

He is set to feature at centre back once again on Monday having particularly impressed there in the win over Leicester.

Crystal Palace team news vs Leeds United

Crystal Palace are set to be without Wilfried Zaha.

The striker was forced off with a hamstring injury in the win at St James’ Park on Tuesday.

Hodgson could look to either Christian Benteke or new signing Jean-Philippe Mateta to replace him in the line-up and partner Michy Batshuayi.

They may also be without James McCarthy who has picked up a knock and is set to return next week.

However, Joel Ward and James McArthur are set to be available after receiving from minor problems.

Connor Wickham, Jeffrey Schlupp, Mamadou Sakho, Wayne Hennessey, Nathan Ferguson and James Tomkins are all out of Monday’s game.
