Huddersfield vs Brighton betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Huddersfield vs Brighton prediction: Huddersfield Town 1-1 Brighton

This match features two sides who’s ultimate aim is to be above the bottom three come what May.

Huddersfield come into this match in terrific form which has seen them climb all the way up to 14th.

Brighton meanwhile have been struggling but their decent early season form means they are up in 12th.

It’s got the feel of a relegation six-pointer.

Huddersfield vs Brighton: Who will win?

Huddersfield are big favourites to win this match at 7/5.

Brighton have only ever won 3 of their 26 Premier League away games and are 23/10 to improve that.

A draw, which wouldn’t be too bad for either, is 19/10.

It’s unlikely to be a goal-fest so under 2.5 goals is 4/9.

Both teams to score is 11/10.

Aaron Mooy scored a brace for Huddersfield last weekend. The Australian international is 9/1 to score first and 3/1 to score anytime this week.

Only Agüero and Aubameyang have scored more Premier League goals than Glenn Murray this season. He’s 9/2 to break the deadlock and 15/8 to score in 90 minutes.

Both Murray and Steve Mounié to score is 15/2.

Huddersfield vs Brighton: Match preview

Who saw Huddersfield’s recent resurgence coming?

After 10 matches, they were rock bottom on just 3 points following 7 defeats and draws with Cardiff, Everton and Burnley.

Then, on a Monday night under the lights, they finally got their first win, beating Fulham by one goal to nil.

That was followed by a 1-1 draw with West Ham at the John Smith’s but they remained bottom of the table.

Last Sunday, they travelled to Molineux but were expected to be swept aside by Wolves.

However, a goal in each half by Aaron Mooy saw them to a 2-0 victory which means they’ve leapt from 20th all the way up to 14th.

That shows just how tight it is at the bottom so can they get another win to put daylight between themselves and trouble?

Brighton meanwhile are two places better off than their opponents but are not in good form.

They won all 3 of their fixtures in October 1-0, beating West Ham, Newcastle and Wolves.

However, they’ll be pleased to see the back of November.

A 3-1 defeat at Goodison was followed by a 2-1 defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Last Saturday, they threw away a one goal lead against ten-man Leicester in a 1-1 draw at the AMEX.

So far the Seagulls have amassed just 4 points from their 7 away games but will see this as a decent chance to improve on that.

Will Chris Hughton’s side end Huddersfield’s unbeaten run?

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it will surely be David Wagner’s thinking ahead of this one.

The Terriers good run of results have come after they switched to a back 3 so it’ll be the same again.

Jonas Lössl will be looking to add to his two clean sheets so far.

In front of him, Mathias Jørgensen was left out of the win at Wolves and is likely to start on the bench again with captain Tommy Smith keeping his place.

Denmark U21 international Philip Billing has caught many people’s attention with some good performances in recent weeks.

At left wing-back, Chris Löwe is out with a ‘serious ligament injury’ so World Cup winner Erik Durm will continue in that position.

Aaron Mooy will once again be key; his two goals last week were his first goals since a brace at Watford way back on 16 December last year.

Those goalscoring problems don’t stop with him though.

Centre-forward Steve Mounié’s last goal was at Brighton in April but his hard working performances should see him retain his place ahead of Laurent Depoitre.

How long can this side’s superb run go on?

Chris Hughton will be hoping his side’s form improves now that he has his best two central midfielders back.

In goal though will be Mat Ryan; he’s played every minute of every Premier League game in Brighton’s history.

In defence, Bernardo will keep his place ahead of Gaëtan Bong at left-back.

Centre-back Shane Duffy epitomises this team

He has made 66 headed clearances so far this season; 12 more than anybody else in the league.

Those afore mentioned midfielders are Pascal Groß and Davy Pröpper.

Both returned from injury in the draw with Leicester and they’re a far better team with these two players in.

Dale Stephens is available after his red card at Cardiff but will likely be left on the bench.

So will Beram Kayal.

After he gave away the penalty last weekend, he’s likely to be left out for Yves Bissouma.

Anthony Knockaert appears to be first choice on the right-wing ahead of Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

Glenn Murray will be tasked with getting the goals again; he’s scored 50% of Brighton’s goals this season.

Bizarrely, he’s committed 44 fouls in the Premier League this campaign which is 20 more than anybody else.

Is this Brighton team strong enough to leave West Yorkshire with something?
