Betting prediction: Fulham 1 – 2 Chelsea
The Cottagers welcome Chelsea to Craven Cottage on Saturday for this London Derby match in the Premier League.
Chelsea have enjoyed almost complete dominance of this fixture in the Premier League, with Fulham winning only 1 of the 28 matches between them since the competition’s rebranding in the 1990s.
The Blues are currently enjoying a 19-match unbeaten run against Fulham; they have won each of the last 5 matches.
Fulham vs Chelsea: Recommended bets
The Cottagers are one of only three sides in the Premier League currently unbeaten in their last 5 matches. Despite this, they start the match as the 13/2 underdogs to pick up their second home win of the season on Saturday.
Fulham have drawn each of their last 5 league games putting them on 6 draws in total for the season. Odds of 7/2 are available if you see Fulham holding Chelsea to a point in this London derby.
Chelsea have won only 1 of their last 6 league matches. Yet they are the 2/5 on favourites to get back to winning ways on Saturday.

Fulham vs Chelsea: What are the betting odds?
Chelsea won 1-2 on their last visit to Craven Cottage back in March 2019. 101 Great Goals’ prediction of another Fulham 1-2 Chelsea scoreline is available at odds of 8/1.
Fulham have recorded just 1 home victory over Chelsea in 21 matches. Luís Boa Morte was the scorer of the game’s only goal in their 1-0 win here over Mourinho’s Chelsea back in March 2006. A repeat of this score on Saturday is available at odds of 20/1.
Three of Fulham’s last five league matches have finished 1-1, including their midweek trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Odds of 17/2 are available for another 1-1 match here.
Fulham vs Chelsea has typically been a low scoring game lately with 7 of the 10 matches between them in the last decade seeing under 2.5 goals scored. You can back another low scoring game here on Saturday with odds of 11/10 for under 2.5 goals.
Timo Werner ended his goal drought of 827 minutes in Chelsea’s last match against Morecambe in the FA Cup. He had failed to score in his previous 13 matches for club and country and hadn’t scored for Chelsea since the 4-1 win against Sheffield United at the start of November. The German international is 3/1 to score the game’s opener on Saturday. Or 5/6 on to bag a goal at any time during the game against Fulham.

Fulham vs Chelsea: Match preview
This match could prove a lot trickier for Lampard’s Chelsea than it would first appear.
Typically, this season, Chelsea’s superior quality has been making easy work of teams at the bottom end of the table. Brighton, Crystal Palace, Burnley, Sheffield United, Newcastle, Leeds and West Ham are the teams Chelsea have beaten this season. All of whom they beat by at least 2 clear goals and all sit 10th place or lower in the Premier League table.
The only team to take points off Chelsea from the bottom 6 are West Brom, which many will dismiss as solely due to Mendy not being in goal. The fact that 3 goals were conceded from an expected goals total for the match of 0.91 suggests there could be some truth in that.
The pattern is clear though, Chelsea have become flat-track bullies of the bottom half of the table. This is considered a requirement of any side with title ambitions. However, their abysmal performances and results against the 8 teams above them in the table remains a concern. Chelsea have collected just 4 points in 8 games against the top 8 sides in the table.

Fulham vs Chelsea: What does the data suggest
Looking at this season’s data, Fulham look like the perfect opponent for this Chelsea. However, a problem we see many people encountering when using data in football is the use of season aggregated numbers.
The most recent games for both teams tell a different story. Three of Fulham’s 5 best defensive performances in terms of expected goals against have all come in the last 4 matches. They are unbeaten in their last 5 games and have conceded just 3 goals in that period.
Likewise, 4 of Chelsea’s last 6 attacking performances have been below their seasonal average of 1.8 expected goals per 90. They have collected just 4 points from a possible 18 from those matches. This equates to 0.67 points per game (PPG); a 25-point season extrapolated over 38 games.
Ordinarily, any Chelsea side performing this poorly under Abramovich over a period of games would have already seen a change in manager. Lampard will be hoping Fulham are the perfect side to help him dig his side out of this rut. He will know a failure to land 3 points here will likely see the calls for him to be replaced intensified.
The match will likely be much closer than many predict. However, the attacking quality such as Giroud, Abraham, Werner, Havertz, Ziyech, Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi will be too much for Fulham to hold out against.

Fulham team news vs Chelsea
Under Premier League rules governing loans, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is ineligible to face his parent club.
Aleksandar Mitrovic wasn’t named in Fulham’s squad for the midweek match against Tottenham. The striker is currently self-isolating after breaching lockdown over New Year. Mitrovic has also been linked with a winter move to Anderlecht in Belgium. He is expected to only be involved from the bench on Saturday.
Mario Lemina has been in and out of the squad this season due to injuries. He has missed the last two matches and with just a 2-day gap between matches, it is unlikely he will be available here.
Netherlands international right-back Kenny Tete started for the first time since September in midweek. He had been out with a calf injury and will be a welcome return for Scott Parker.
Tom Cairney was absent from the matchday squads to face both QPR and Spurs this week. No timeframe has been given yet for his return to action.

Chelsea team news vs Fulham
Charly Musonda Jr is the only long-term injury concern for Chelsea, following his knee surgery.
N’Golo Kante is suspended for one match and will miss the trip across London to face Fulham.
Reece James has been out with a small hamstring problem as of late. It is unlikely he will be rushed back by Lampard. Although, he could be introduced from the bench here.
Andreas Christensen recently made his first start since mid-October against Villa on Blues’ final match of 2020. Since then, he has been ruled out with a knee injury but is expected back in training before Saturday’s match against Fulham. Although similar to James, it is unlikely he will start here but could offer some defensive depth from the bench.
