Betting prediction: Everton 2 – 1 West Ham

Everton welcomes West Ham to Goodison Park in Liverpool on Sunday for this Premier League match.

The Blues have the strong upper hand in the head-to-head, with 27 wins to West Ham’s 10, from their 50 encounters in the Premier League.

Their superiority extends into all competitions too, with Everton winning 73 games to West Ham’s 41 in all competitions in this head-to-head.

The Blues also come out on top over the last 6 games between them, with 4 wins and a draw. Although, West Ham’s last visit to Goodison did end in an away win.

Everton vs West Ham: Recommended bets

101 Great Goals’ prediction of Everton 2 – 1 West Ham is available at odds of 11/1.

1-0 Everton win. Everton won 0-1 in London the last time they faced West Ham back in May. A repeat of this score on Sunday is available at odds of 10/1.

1-1 draw. Everton’s last match before the international break ended in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Odds of 7/1 are available if you see this match finishing with the same result.

0-1 West Ham win. West Ham’s last visit to Goodison Park on New Year’s Day at the start of this year ended in a 0-1 away win. You can back them at 11/1 for the same scoreline here on Sunday.

Under 2.5 goals. Everton vs West Ham has recently been a low scoring game with the last 5 Premier League matches all being under 2.5 goal games. You can back another low scoring game here on Sunday with odds of 1.9/1 for under 2.5 goals.

Michail Antonio Goalscorer. Antonio (above) has been in white-hot form so far this season, with 5 goals and 3 assists in his 6 Premier League appearances this season. However, this isn’t a fixture he will have many fond memories of having missed 5 of 12 through injury and being on the losing side for 4 of the 7 in which he played. Michail also hasn’t found the back of the net in any of his last 6 appearances against the Toffees. The 31-years-old forward is still the 6.5/1 favourite to score the game’s opener on Sunday. Or 2.75/1 to bag a goal at any time during the game against Everton.

Everton vs West Ham: What are the betting odds?

The Blues have a perfect home record so far in the Rafa Benitez era and are the 2.3/1 favourites to keep it going by taking all 3 points from West Ham on Sunday.

Whereas, the Irons are 3/1 to pick up back-to-back away wins at Goodison Park.

Odds of 3.4/1 are available if you see Everton and West Ham cancelling each other out on Sunday.

Everton vs West Ham: Match preview

A lot could depend on the fitness and availability of Everton’s key players here.

Seamus Coleman, Alex Iwobi, Andre Gomes, Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lucas Digne are arguably all starting XI quality players in this Everton side and yet all six are rated as doubtful to varying degrees coming into this match.

In particular, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin being fit here would be a massive boost for the Blues. It is tough to replace the players who have been the clubs’ top 2 goalscorers in each of the last 2 seasons. Richarlison was also the joint-top scorer 3 seasons ago with Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The only match they have won since the pair have both been out was against bottom-placed Norwich. That it took a penalty to break the deadlock for Everton perhaps further highlights the difficulty in being effective in attack without your two best-attacking players.

Although, they were a VAR disallowed goal away from beating United last match before the international break. In that instance, it would have been a set-piece goal from Yerry Mina snatching the headlines.

There is also the question of which West Ham will show up on Sunday. After sticking 4 goals past both Newcastle and Leicester to start the season, it seemed like they would pick up right where they left off last season.

Since then, they have just 1 win in 5 with a defeat at home to newly-promoted Brentford last Premier League weekend the latest in some disappointing results this season.

Not to mention the renewal of a long rivalry between ex-Everton manager David Moyes and then Liverpool, now Everton manager Rafa Benitez. Rafa holds 11 wins to 3 in the head-to-head between the two, including a win against the Hammers the last time they faced off when Rafa was still in charge at Newcastle.

This match really could go either way but we feel the returning stars of Everton will just edge it in their direction.

Everton team news vs West Ham

Fabian Delph and Cenk Tosun are the only Everton players on the long-term injury list with shoulder and patella injuries respectively.

They are also without Gylfi Sigurdsson who has likely played his final game for Everton following his arrest over child-sex offences. The club confirmed the midfielder had been suspended from all first team duties and he hasn’t been registered in Everton’s Premier League squad for this season.

Seamus Coleman, Alex Iwobi, Andre Gomes, Richarlison, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (pictured above) all missed Everton’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford before the international break. The break came at a good time for Everton who expect the last 2 weeks to have given them a chance to recover and be involved here.

Lucas Digne played the full 90 minutes against United but felt some tightness in his hamstring afterwards. He pulled out of France’s squad and missed the Nations League final as a result. However, with 2 weeks rest it is hopeful the problem will have cleared up and he is cleared to start here.

West Ham team news vs Everton

The Hammers have a comparatively clean bill of health for this Everton match.

Ryan Fredericks was touch and go to be involved in the Hammers’ last match against Brentford, ultimately losing his fitness battle and wasn’t involved in the match. The extra 2 weeks rest should have given his groin problem time to clear.

Vladimir Coufal played the full 90 minutes against Brentford but was also suffering from a slight groin problem afterwards. West Ham and the Czech medical team agreed that that he should get some rest over the international break. He faces a late fitness test to be involved here with Ben Johnson or Fredericks likely to start in his absence if unavailable.

Aside from Coufal, Moyes is expected to make no further changes to the side that has started their last 3 league games.
