Everton vs Manchester City: Match preview

Everton felt the effects of going to extra-time with Tottenham as they were beaten by Fulham on the weekend.

Scott Parker’s side managed to leave Goodison Park 2-0 winners stopping the Toffees from climbing into the top four.

Carlo Ancelloti’s men remained in seventh and now find themselves needing to win both their games in hand to go fourth.

They are currently five points behind Chelsea in fourth going into Wednesday’s clash.

Top scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin was missing against Fulham, although he is expected to return on Wednesday.

The striker has netted 13 league goals this season and will be a welcomed return ahead of a tricky test against the league leaders.

After City, they face Liverpool in a crucial Merseyside derby at Anfield.

City’s record-breaking win

Manchester City pulled seven points clear at the top of the Premier League following results during matchday 24.

City are currently on the longest winning streak in English football having beaten Preston (1891-92) and (1987-88) Arsenal’s joint previous best.

Guardiola’s side secured a 16th consecutive win in all competitions over Tottenham whilst second-placed Manchester United drew with West Brom.

On Wednesday, their lead could be extended to ten points as they play their game in hand.

Defensively they continue to look impenetrable having conceded just 14 goals all season and just once in their last seven matches.

Everton team news vs Manchester City

Everton are set to be handed a major injury boost with Dominic Calvert-Lewin expected to return on Wednesday.

The attacker is due to be assessed ahead of the match.

Jordan Pickford is in line to return on Wednesday after recovering from an abdominal injury.
