Betting prediction: Crystal Palace 0 – 2 Tottenham Hotspur

Crystal Palace welcomes Spurs to Selhurst Park in London on Saturday for this Premier League match. This is Palace’s fifth consecutive London derby to start the season, having already faced Chelsea, Brentford and West Ham in the league, as well as Watford in the League Cup.

The Lilywhites have the upper hand in the head-to-head, with 14 wins to Crystal Palace’s 3, from their 24 encounters in the Premier League. However, recently Tottenham have struggled to find a victory as visitors here, with Palace picking up a win and 2 draws from their last 3 home matches against Spurs.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur: Recommended bets

101 Great Goals’ prediction of Crystal Palace 0 – 2 Spurs is available at odds of 9/1.

Crystal Palace’s last home match against Spurs with fans allowed in the stadium ended in a 2-0 win in the League Cup back in January 2019. A repeat of this score on Saturday is available at odds of 23/1.

1-1 draw. The last two matches in this head-to-head at Selhurst Park both ended in a 1-1 stalemate. Odds of 7.5/1 are available if you see this match finishing with the same result.

4-1 Spurs win. Spurs battered Palace 4-1 when these sides last met back in March at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. You can back them at 34/1 for the same scoreline here on Saturday.

Under 2.5 goals. Crystal Palace’s last 6 home matches in this head-to-head have all been low scoring games finishing with under 2.5 goals scored. You can back another low scoring game here on Saturday with odds of 1.8/1 for under 2.5 goals.

Harry Kane Goalscorer. Kane (below) has been the scourge of Palace over the last few seasons. His record against the Eagles over the years is 7 goals in 16 appearances, however he has scored in each of his last 3 games against them, including 2 goals and 2 assists when they last met back in March. The England international is 3.6/1 to score the game’s opener on Saturday. Or 1.83/1 to bag a goal at any time during the game against Crystal Palace.

The Eagles are 4.33/1 to bag their first win of the Patrick Vieira era and take all 3 points from Spurs on Saturday.

Whereas, the Lilywhites are 1.8/1 to end their 3-game winless run here with an away victory at Selhurst Park.

Odds of 3.7/1 are available if you see Crystal Palace and Spurs cancelling each other out on Saturday, just as they have done in their last two meetings here.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur: Match preview

Not many people would have had Spurs down as the early league leaders before a ball was kicked this season.

Two of their most valuable players in Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombélé were trying to engineer moves away from the club. They were also lacking a starting-XI quality right-back following the departure of Serge Aurier.

In addition, Spurs had a new manager in Nuno Espírito Santo arriving with fresh ideas and needing a grace period to see them bed in and produce results. He had to do so while facing the reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City, on the opening day of the season.

Yet after 3 rounds of Premier League matches, the Lilywhites are the only side still boasting a perfect start to the season with 3 wins from 3, all with a 1-0 scoreline.

On paper, you would expect them to make it 4 from 4 with ease here against one of the Premier League’s weakest sides. Their record of 8 wins from the last 11 matches against Palace would suggest that Spurs usually have little trouble dealing with their London neighbours.

However, as mentioned previously, Selhurst Park is becoming something of a bogey ground for Spurs in recent years, failing to win any of their last 3 visits here.

Palace are also in a moment of transition following the departure of Roy Hodgson in the summer. He left behind an ageing side of almost entirely players aged 30 or over, many of whom departed the club this summer as part of a major rebuild.

With any rebuild comes instability and inconsistency as both new players and manager look to settle in. Vieira is still looking for his first win after 4 games in charge, and despite Spurs’ recent record here, it is doubtful that the Eagles will secure all 3 points on Saturday.

Odsonne Edouard and Will Hughes could be in line to make their debuts here. The pair were signed for £15m and £6m respectively before the transfer window closed to give Vieira some much-needed quality in depth in the spine of the side.

Eberechi Eze (above) and Nathan Ferguson are still ruled out with Achilles tendon injuries sustained at the tail-end of the previous campaign.

Michael Olise is also ruled out with a lower back injury. Olise has yet to make his debut for the club since signing for £8.4m from Reading this summer. He is back in training, though, and nearing a return to action.

Luka Milivojevic missed the opening three games of the season due to unspecified personal reasons. He spent the international break building up his fitness, and is expected to be available here.

Tottenham Hotspur team news vs Crystal Palace

While Spurs have no long-term issues with key players, they do have a lengthy list of short-term problems to manage over the next couple of weeks.

Their South American trio of Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso and Davinson Sanchez are all missing due to quarantine regulations. The fact that the club did not give the players permission to travel to a red-listed country compounds matters, with Spurs opting to fine the players involved.

It also remains to be seen whether Lo Celso and Romero will face further punishment from FIFA for their involvement in the farcical scenes on the pitch on Sunday night, culminating in the Brazil vs Argentina match being abandoned.

Cameron Carter-Vickers is also unavailable having completed a deadline-day loan to Celtic. Joe Rodon hasn’t been involved in any of their Premier League squads so far this season due to injury.

This leaves Tottenham short of central defenders for this match. Eric Dier will continue in defence with Japhet Tanganga moving across from right back. Nuno will be praying that he has no further injuries in that department during the match, with only Ben Davies and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as likely candidates to play at centre-half in an emergency.

Tanguy Ndombele is yet to be named in a squad this season. The midfielder tried to force a move out of the club over the summer. Having failed to engineer an exit, it remains to be seen whether he is recalled to the squad or spends some time away to get mentally and physically prepared for the season.

Steven Bergwijn, Ryan Sessegnon, Heung-min Son and Oliver Skipp are all rated as minor doubts for this match, having suffered knocks during the international break.

The arrival of Emerson Royal from Barcelona at least solves one problem. The Brazilian right-back is likely to start here, allowing Tanganga to push across into central defence.
