Chelsea to beat Newcastle 2-0

Chelsea continued their resurgence under Thomas Tuchel last Sunday as they defeated Sheffield United 2-1.

The Blues have now climbed into 5th place and have the chance to move into the top four with a point on Monday.

Newcastle United won for the second time in their last three games as they defeated Southampton 3-2 last weekend.

The three points moves them ten points clear of the bottom three and eases the pressure on manager Steve Bruce.

Chelsea vs Newcastle United: Recommended bets

Mason Mount to score first. The midfielder has managed to secure a spot in Tuchel’s starting line-up and has been key in the Blues’ last two wins.

Mount found the back of the net at Bramall Lane last Sunday and will be confident of doing the same again on Monday when he faces a struggling Newcastle side.

Chelsea are well and truly back on course to finish in the top four since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.

The German manager has guided the Blues to ten points in his first four matches in charge.

The west London club are currently in 5th place and looked primed to leap into top four on Monday.

Chelsea need just a point to move above fourth-placed Liverpool given their superior goal difference.

Tuchel’s three at the back formation is so far working to perfection with Chelsea having conceded just once in their last four games.

They were also in action on Thursday in the FA Cup reaching the quarter-finals with a 1-0 win over Barnsley.

Newcastle boost survival hopes with Southampton win

Newcastle United moved ten points clear of the bottom three with a win over Southampton last Saturday.

Steve Bruce’s side managed to come out on top in a crazy match which ended 3-2 to the hosts.

Newcastle will be hoping to build on their recent good form which also saw them defeat Everton two weeks ago.

Three points on Monday could lift them as high as 14th place.

Chelsea team news vs Newcastle United

Chelsea will once again be without Thiago Silva who is continuing to recover from an injury.

The Brazilian was forced off against Tottenham and also missed the win over Sheffield United.

Andreas Christensen came in to replace him on both occasions and is set to start again on Monday.

Timo Werner has recovered from a dead leg which he suffered last Sunday and is likely to start again against Newcastle.

Kai Havertz is due to undergo a late fitness test ahead of Monday’s game as he looks to overcome a knock.

Newcastle United team news vs Chelsea

Newcastle have been dealt a major blow with Callum Wilson being ruled out for six to eight weeks.

The striker suffered a thigh injury in their win over Southampton.

Wilson is the Tyneside club’s leading goal scorer this season and Steve Bruce faces a nightmare selecting his replacement.

Bruce will have to select between Andy Carroll and Joelinton to fill the void.

Jeff Hendrick is out of the game having been sent off in last Saturday’s win over Southampton.

Jamaal Lascelles could return from a thigh injury and slot back in the defence.

Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez are both also in contention to return in a big boost for Bruce’s defence.

Isaac Hayden has been forced to drop back into defence over recent weeks with so many centre-backs out injured.

Their return coincides with Javi Manquillo and Fabian Schar both being ruled out for several weeks.

Manquillo suffered an ankle injury against the Saints, whilst Schar has sustained knee ligament damage.
