Chelsea vs Arsenal betting tips: Premier League preview and predictions

Chelsea vs Arsenal prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal

A huge game at the Bridge.

Two sides who began new eras last weekend but in contrasting ways.

Chelsea outclassed Huddersfield but Arsenal were outclassed themselves by champions Manchester City.

This is always a feisty affair but who will get the three points that, even at this early stage, could be so important?

Chelsea vs Arsenal: Who will win?

Chelsea are odds on favourites at 4/5 to win this game.

Arsenal are big underdogs at 16/5.

It was a draw last season in this fixture and a repeat is 14/5.

Both sides like to attack and over 2.5 goals is 4/6.

Eden Hazard shone for Belgium in Russia this summer and is expected to make his first Chelsea start of the season today. He is 5/1 to score first and 6/4 to net anytime.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is going to be The Gunners’ most regular source of goals. He’s 11/2 to score first and 7/4 to score anytime.

Both Hazard and Aubameyang to score is 11/2.

Chelsea vs Arsenal: Match preview

Chelsea’s season did begin a fortnight ago in the FA Community Sheild at Wembley.

However, similarly to Arsenal in their league opener, they were out classed by Manchester City losing 2-0.

Nevertheless, they bounced back and started the Premier League campaign with a resounding victory.

Goals from N’Golo Kanté, a first for the club for Jorginho and a late chip by Pedro wrapped up a comfortable afternoon in Huddersfield.

It is going to take time for Maurizio Sarri to implement his ideas at Chelsea, but another win in this one, would help the players buy into his philosophy even quicker.

The Unai Emery Arsenal revolution

Another man trying to change the culture of his new club is Unai Emery.

However, it was more of the same for Arsenal in their league opener with the champions.

Goals from Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva burst the bubble of early season optimism and Arsenal really need to bounce back quickly.

However, that will be a tough ask.

They very rarely threatened Man City’s goal last week and will have to improve a lot if they’re to leave Stamford Bridge with anything.

Maurizio Sarri has no injury concerns ahead of this game.

However, after a good performance last week, not many changes are expected.

Eden Hazard is likely to return though. He came off the bench in West Yorkshire last week after an extended break following his World Cup exploits with Belgium.

Hazard may have only played 14 minutes at the John Smith’s but in that short period of time showed his class; setting up the third goal with a superb run.

There will be Stamford Bridge debuts for both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Jorginho.

Mateo Kovačić could also make his debut for the club but is more likely to do so from the bench.

Cesc Fàbregas and Olivier Giroud will both also have to be content with a substitute role against their old side.

Aubameyang & Lacazette

In Thursday’s press conference, Unai Emery confirmed that, despite a shaky performance last week, Petr Čech will start against his old side.

Sead Kolašinac is still out though.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles filled in at left back last Sunday but struggled before going off with injury. Like Kolašinac, he will now be out for around 2 months.

Stephan Lichtsteiner, a right back by trade, came on against the champions for his Arsenal debut.

However, Emery also confirmed on Thursday that Nacho Monreal is going to be fit in time and will start.

Many people were impressed by Mattéo Guendouzi’s performance last Sunday in what was his first ever game in top flight football. His energy and willingness to take the ball in tight spaces should be enough to see him get another start.

That could come in place of Granit Xhaka who had another poor game for Arsenal last week.

New signing Lucas Torreira came on last Sunday and many Arsenal fans will be hoping to see his name on the team sheet at Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners rarely threatened Ederson’s goal but did improve when Alexandre Lacazette came off the bench.

That should see the French forward get a start; possibly ahead of Henrikh Mkhitaryan who was poor.

There are plenty of selection headaches for Emery ahead of only his second game.
