Betting prediction: Burnley 1-0 Norwich

To be blunt, Norwich have been quite poor this season and their zero points from six attempts thus far is just about what was expected from Daniel Farke’s men. Burnley came close to beating Leicester City last weekend, while also dominating this fixture at Turf Moor (6-0-0) in its recent history. Burnley are hardly world beaters, but they should have enough to come away with all three points and net their first win of the 2021-22 season.

Burnley vs Norwich: Recommended bets

To Score First: Chris Wood (4/1 odds)

With five goals in four Premier League starts against Norwich, in conjunction with the Canaries boasting the worst defensive record in the Premier League (16-goals allowed), it seems a decent bet that key center forward Chris Wood could open the scoring at Turf Moor on Saturday.

1st Half Scorecast; Chris Wood to score first/Burnley 1-0 correct score (9/1 odds)

Building off Wood’s goal return against Norwich, the notion that Daniel Farke’s troops have found the back of the net just twice this season while blanking in four of their six fixtures lends scope to the Clarets keeping a clean sheet in the first-half.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche on the weekend six pointer

As Burnley move into the clash with Norwich, both sides sit in the relegation zone without a single win between them in what is an early season six-point clash for both combatants. Clarets boss Sean Dyche reflected on the current state of affairs in the run up to the Turf Moor meeting tomorrow;

“The thing I have learnt about football is that whatever you want to call these games, it doesn’t always work out like that – trust me. It is about how many games you can win to get points on the table, however they come and who they come against.

But the idea of getting points on the board for us, is more important than whether the old adage of a ‘six-pointer’ is true for this game. I would say it is more a case in this game of both teams vying for a win, because it changes the narrative a little bit. In other seasons we have stopped those stories very early in the year.

At the minute that is the obvious narrative is: ‘when will you get the first win’. “I don’t think we are far off at all, but I have to look at the whole season’s work, not just the immediacy of the next game. We can’t overthink it, because a lot of our performances have been right, but as I have said I am not naive to our industry. You have to get wins and points on the board.”

Norwich boss Daniel Farke already navigating treacherous waters

Six fixtures into the 2021-22 Premier League season, and Norwich have yet to earn a single point. For a side under Daniel Farke that have been relegated once before while finishing bottom of the table with just five wins, the prospect that the Canaries could end with an even worse record this time around is a growing one.

NORWICH, ENGLAND – AUGUST 03: Norwich City Manager Daniel Farke during the Pre-Season Friendly match between Norwich City and Toulouse at Carrow Road on August 03, 2019 in Norwich, England. (Photo by Stephen Pond/Getty Images)

Just two goals have been found this term despite the Carrow Road outfit investing in the likes of Werder Bremen pair Milot Rashica & Josh Sargent, as well as Greek starlet Christos Tzolis.

To make matters worse, Norwich are the only side in England or Scotland to not have registered a single point this season, as the screenplay being read aloud surely will not make it to principle casting. There is plenty of time left for Norwich to begin earning points from somewhere, and thankfully, four other sides in the English top flight have yet to net a win, too. Time is ticking if the Canaries intend to avoid the drop.

Burnley team news vs Norwich

Sean Dyche faces a selection crisis ahead of Burnley’s home encounter with bottom-dwelling Norwich at Turf Moor this weekend.

Dale Stephens, Connor Roberts, and Kevin Long are all guaranteed absentees for the Clarets, while Maxwell Cornet and Jay Rodriguez are also likely to miss proceedings with hamstring concerns. Matej Vydra is listed as doubtful but is expected to make the bench.

Norwich team news vs Burnley

Daniel Farke’s Norwich squad does not have many fitness concerns or selections issues to concern itself with, as the Canaries look for their first win of the season.

Christoph Zimmermann and Sam Byram are the only players sure to miss out on the away day, while Przemyslaw Placheta is still recovering from Covid-19 and has yet to make an appearance this season. Todd Cantwell should be back after missing the last two matches due to personal reasons.
