Burnley vs Huddersfield betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Burnley vs Huddersfield prediction: Burnley 2-0 Huddersfield

Burnley were 4-0 winners in their last home Premier League match and will be hoping for a repeat performance on Saturday against the league’s bottom side.

David Wagner’s charges have not won any of their last 11 in the league.

Burnley vs Huddersfield: Who will win?

Burnley are 23/20 favourites to win while Huddersfield are 16/5 to pick up their first away win in the league since February. The draw is priced at 21/10.

Burnley have scored six goals from their last seven on target. Over 2.5 goals looks well priced at 7/5.

Sean Dyche has a tendency to rotate his forwards, but Matej Vydra is expected to start behind the main striker. The Czech is 5/1 to open the scoring and 15/8 score anytime.

Burnley vs Huddersfield Premier League match preview

Burnley welcome Huddersfield to Turf Moor on Saturday as they go in search of a third straight victory.

Burnley beat Cardiff City 2-1 in Wales last Sunday. After a dull first half – which saw the fewest passes in a half this season – Johann Berg Gudmundsson opened the scoring for the visitors.

Cardiff equalised shortly after before Sam Vokes scored the winner with his first Premier League goal of the campaign.

The win moves Burnley up to 12th in the table on 7 points. A 4-0 win over Bournemouth in September suggests that Burnley are starting to show glimpses of the side they were when they finished 7th last season.

The Clarets’ poor start to the season can be largely attributed to their drawn-out Europa League qualifying campaign, which started months ago.

Struggling at the bottom

Huddersfield begin the match bottom of the pile on just 2 points.

The Terriers lost for a third match in a row last weekend as they were beaten 2-0 at home to Spurs.

Huddersfield did manage to pick up one point in September, in a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

In addition to having scored the fewest goals this season (3), the Terriers have the joint-worst defensive record this season as well.

There is some hope for David Wagner’s side. All four of their goals have come on the road.

Both of last season’s matches between these two sides ended in goalless draws.

Burnley team news vs Huddersfield

Joe Hart will continue in goal for Burnley, ahead of club captain Tom Heaton. The shot-stopper has made more saves than anyone else so far this season.

James Tarkowski, who has been called up to the latest England squad, is a doubt. The defender will need to be assessed after picking up a groin injury.

Robbie Brady has suffered a minor injury setback that will keep him sidelined.

Nick Pope remains sidelined with a shoulder injury while Ben Gibson also missed out.

It’s worth noting that striker Chris Wood has scored eight career goals against Huddersfield, three more than against any other club.

Huddersfield team news vs Burnley

Ramadan Sobhi is targeting a return after the international break. David Wagner said that the winger “looks better” but is not yet fit following a knee injury.

Danny Williams is also set to miss out with a knee injury, as does Christopher Schindler.

Terence Kongolo has a “serious” hamstring injury and could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

With Schindler and Kongolo both out, Gorenc Stankovic is expected to partner Zanka in central defence.

Wagner could revert to a flat back four, with Jonathan Hogg and Philip Billing screening the backline.
