Aston Villa welcomes Liverpool to Villa Park in Birmingham on Tuesday for this Premier League match. Philippe Coutinho was also added to the mix in January with the former Liverpool man recapturing the form that saw Barca part with almost £150m in total for the Brazilian. His 22-minute cameo on his debut against United started the comeback from 0-2 down to draw 2-2 with the little Phil scoring the equalising goal.
A man of the match performance on his full debut at Villa Park followed with Coutinho (pictured below) having a hand in all three goals in a 3-3 draw with Leeds United. However, performances have tailed off as of late, with Coutinho benched for the first time since making his full debut for the midweek trip to Burnley after a string of sub-par performances. He is the man for the big occasion though and Liverpool will be wary of the man who had eighteen goals and assists in nineteen games for Liverpool in his final half-season at the club.

Aston Villa team news
Kortney Hause has been out of the last eight matchday squads due to an abdominal issue. No update has been provided since mid-March and it looks increasingly like he will miss the remaining few games left of the season.
Leon Bailey lasted only forty minutes of the match against Norwich at the end of April. This is now his fourth separate spell out in an injury-riddled first season at the club. While it isn’t believed to be serious, it kept him out of the trip to Burnley and he is a major doubt here. Jacob Ramsey is also in doubt after suffering a pelvic injury in training that kept him out of the 1-3 win at Burnley.
Liverpool team news
The Reds have no new injuries to report coming out of their 1-1 draw against Spurs at the weekend. Roberto Firmino (pictured above) was the only player missing from the squad due to fitness concerns. He is back in training though and the club are monitoring his fitness game-to-game. He is expected to be involved either against Villa or this weekend.
With the FA Cup final approaching on Saturday, we should expect to see some shuffling of the pack here with one eye on that fixture. Sadio Mané, Virgil van Dijk (pictured above) and Andrew Robertson are the only three outfield players to have started each of the last three games and are the most likely players to be rested here. Thiago has started back to back games and is unlikely to start three in a row as the club carefully manages his game load. Fabinho may also be due a one-game rest in the number six position having also started Liverpool’s last two games.
