Betting prediction: Aston Villa 2 – 0 Fulham
The Villans welcome Fulham to Villa Park in Birmingham on Sunday for this Premier League match.
All of the previous 4 matches in this head-to-head have been away from Villa Park; 3 matches at Craven Cottage and the 2018 Playoff Final at Wembley Stadium.
It is a fixture that tends to favour the home side, with just 4 away wins in 27 Premier League matches in this head-to-head.
Aston Villa’s 0-3 away win at Craven Cottage when these sides met back in September ended a run of 6 consecutive home wins in this head-to-head.
Villa have the slight advantage in this head-to-head with 14 wins to Fulham’s 13 in all competitions. However, when looking only at matches at Villa Park, Villa dominates with 10 wins to 2.

101 Great Goals’ prediction of Aston Villa 2 – 0 Fulham is available at odds of 10/1.
Aston Villa’s last home victory over Fulham came back in the Championship in October 2017 by a scoreline of 2-1. A repeat of this score on Sunday is available at odds of 9/1.
The last Premier League match in this head-to-head at Villa Park was won 1-2 by Fulham back in December 2013. You can back them at 12/1 for the same scoreline here on Sunday.
Aston Villa vs Fulham in the Premier League is often a low scoring game with 8 of the last 11 matches being under 2.5 goals games. You can back another low scoring game here on Sunday with odds of 4/6 on for under 2.5 goals.
Jack Grealish scored the opening and ultimately winning goal when these sides met back in September. Sunday will be his first game back after a shin injury and Villa fans will be hoping he can come back with a bang. The England international is 15/2 to score the game’s opener once again on Sunday. Or 11/4 to bag a goal at any time during the game against Fulham.

Aston Villa vs Fulham: What are the betting odds?
Home advantage has proved crucial through the years in the Villa vs Fulham head-to-head. Villa are the 5/4 favourites to end the run of their last 3 league games without a win at Villa Park on Sunday.
Fulham are unbeaten in their last 9 away matches, which includes impressive wins at both Everton and Liverpool. However, their record at Villa Park isn’t great, with just 1 Premier League win here in 13 visits. They are the 23/10 underdogs for the win here on Sunday.
A draw has proven to be the most common outcome between these sides in the Premier League, with 11 draws from 27 matches. However, there hasn’t been a draw between these sides in the last 9 matches in all competitions. Odds of 23/10 are available if you think a draw is overdue in this fixture.

Aston Villa vs Fulham: Match preview
Villa will be delighted to have Jack Grealish back on Sunday. The 25-year-old winger, who received his first England cap earlier in September, has been the key player in their push to upset the usual top sides and snatch a European qualification place.
Grealish has scored or assisted 16 of Villa’s 39 Premier League goals this season, which is 3 more than any other player at the club. Their points per game (PPG) nearly halved from 1.64 PPG to just 0.83 PPG during the last 6 matches when he was out injured. As a result, Villa have fallen from 8th in the league and just 4 points behind the 4th Champions League place to 10th and 10 points adrift of Chelsea in 4th.
The Villans managed to pick up just 5 points from 6 games without their talismanic forward. Goalscoring without his creativity is proving a particular problem, with only 1 goal in the last 4 matches. This despite 3 of those 4 matches coming against sides in the bottom 7 for goals conceded this season.
It is a problem his manager is all too aware of, which was clear from his comments when asked about Jack in the pre-match press conference on Thursday.
“He’s joined in and his first session, I must admit, he was very, very good. It was mouth-watering to see what we’ve been missing a little bit, you sometimes forget how good he actually is until he comes back into training.”
– Dean Smith, Aston Villa Manager
Of course, Fulham will be doing everything in their power to prevent Grealish having an impact on the match. Aside from Manchester City, they are improving in their defensive performances, with 7 of their last 8 matches all falling below the season average for expected goals allowed.
This is also reflected in terms of the goals conceded, having conceded just 7 goals in their last 9 games; an average of 0.78 goals against per match. This is almost half the 1.48 goals against they were averaging over the 21 games prior. It also noted that 6 of their 9 clean sheets this season came in the last 10 weeks.

Aston Villa team news vs Fulham
Wesley hasn’t featured for Villa since suffering a ruptured ACL on New Year’s Day 2020. He is now back in full training but having not played in over 15 months, he has been rebuilding his fitness in friendlies organised by the club during the international break. He isn’t expected to feature in the Premier League until he can get a few more friendlies under his belt.
Kortney Hause is another long-term injured player nearing a return. He has missed all but 4 games this season due to groin and more recently ankle injuries. Having not kicked a ball since New Years Day 2021, he will likely be eased back into things by Villa.
Jack Grealish has also missed Villa’s last 6 matches due to a shin injury. Dean Smith confirmed during the week that he is expected to return against Fulham and looks likely to start the match.
Ahmed Elmohamady, Ross Barkley, Marvelous Nakamba and Anwar El Ghazi are the Villa players most likely to benefit from any changes Dean Smith makes to the side that lost 0-2 to Spurs before the international break.

Fulham team news vs Aston Villa
Kevin McDonald has put his footballing career on hold to have a kidney transplant. The 32-year-old revealed earlier this season that he has been suffering from chronic kidney disease his entire career. As a result, he hasn’t been included in their 25-man Premier League squad.
Alfie Mawson remains on the long-term injury list for Fulham due to a ruptured cruciate ligament. It is unlikely we see him in the 2020/21 campaign.
Tom Cairney hasn’t played for Fulham since the 1-1 with Newcastle just before Christmas. Scott Parker seemed to suggest he may not return this season when asked about Cairney recently.
“It’s week-by-week, it’s an ongoing issue to manage the pain. It’s proving to be a tricky one and time is against him with nine games to go.”
Fulham’s backup goalkeeper, Marek Rodak, picked up a finger injury in training causing him to miss the last 5 squads. Fabri will continue on the bench in place of him should he not make it back for this one.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid has missed the last 2 matches due to injury. However, the international break came at a good time for him and he will likely be available from the bench on Sunday.
