Arsenal vs West Ham United: Recommended bets
Both teams to score. Despite keeping a clean sheet at the weekend, there remain some question marks about the Gunners’ backline.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score. All the indications suggest that Aubameyang is going to have another superb goalscoring season. He’s scored in each of Arsenal’s last four competitive matches.
Over 2.5 goals scored. Their last five Premier League matches have produced 15 goals.
Arsenal vs West Ham United: Match preview
Arsenal host London rivals West Ham United at the Emirates on Saturday.
The Gunners got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start last weekend with a 3-0 win at Fulham – another London derby. Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring before debutant Gabriel Magalhaes doubled Arsenal’s lead.
Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rounded off the scoring with a trademark curler from the edge of the area. Willian picked up the man of the match award for bagging two assists on his debut.
Although it doesn’t mean much so early on, Arsenal did end the gameweek at the top of the Premier League table for the first time since 2016.
West Ham suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle in their Premier League opener last weekend. David Moyes made 10 changes to his side for their midweek Carabao Cup tie against Charlton, which they won 3-0. Sebastien Haller scored twice before Felipe Anderson added West Ham’s third.
Saturday’s match will be the 49th Premier League meeting between the two sides. Arsenal have won 31 of those matches, losing eight and drawing nine.
Last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a 1-0 win for Angela. Alexandre Lacazette scored the only goal of the game. Bernd Leno was named man of the match.
Arsenal team news vs West Ham United
Arsenal have a rather lengthy absentee list, although most of those unavailable are fringe players.
Granit Xhaka is a slight doubt after picking up an ankle knock against Fulham. Dani Ceballos would be a straight swap in midfield if Xhaka is unavailable.
David Luiz’s neck injury might not be as bad as was initially feared, although he is definitely out for Saturday. Fellow defenders Calum Chambers, Pablo Mari, Shkodran Mustafi, and Sokratis are also sidelined through injury.
Arteta’s team selection last weekend suggests that William Saliba will be gradually eased into action. A Carabao Cup appearance next week seems a more likely opportunity for him to make his debut.
Further forward, Alexandre Lacazette and Willian will be hoping to keep their places in the starting eleven, at the expense of Eddie Nketiah and Nicolas Pepe.
Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi have been pictured in first-team training, but there’s no indication that they’ll be involved.
Gabriel Martinelli is a long-term absentee.
West Ham United team news vs Arsenal
West Ham have just one injury concern ahead of Saturday’s clash.
Former Arsenal favourite Jack Wilshere will miss out. The central midfielder rolled his ankle in training last week as his terrible luck with injuries continues.
Following his brace in midweek, Sebastian Haller could replace Michail Antonio up front. Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini and, Andriy Yarmolenko are further creative options for David Moyes.
Ryan Fredericks was preferred to Ben Johnson last weekend and should keep his place at right-back.
Former Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabiasnki will face his old club.
