Chelsea assistant Gianfranco Zola: ‘Eden Hazard is yet to reach his peak’

Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola believes that Eden Hazard is yet to fulfil his full potential.

The 27-year-old claimed a bronze medal at the World Cup over the summer and has started the new campaign with a flourish.

Hazard was named in the 2017/2018 FIFA FIFPro World 11 last night at FIFA’s The Best awards ceremony.

Along with being named in the FIFA Team of the Year, Eden Hazard was also voted as the seventh best player in the world.

However, Gianfranco Zola insists the winger is learning to improve after each game he plays for the Blues.

The Italian coach is confident that Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea’s squad will help Hazard to unlock his full potential.

Zola said:

“It looks like the more Eden plays, the better he gets.

“I think Eden has done magnificently in the World Cup.

“He’s a player who is getting better and better.

“I don’t think in my opinion he has reached his full potential.

“He can still use his skills in a better way. I truly believe this.

“I think this year, the team, Maurizio in particular, will help him to reach his full potential.”

FIFA FIFPro World 11: Eden Hazard included

Eden Hazard joined fellow Chelsea teammate N’Golo Kante in the FIFA FIFPro Team of the Year.

Both midfielders saw off competition from the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Toni Kroos and Isco.
