Xherdan Shaqiri opens up on his time at Liverpool so far

Shaqiri signs for Liverpool

Xherdan Shaqiri signed for Liverpool this past summer from Stoke City for a fee of around £14 million.

Shaqiri had been a key member of Stoke’s squad during his tenure there.

In 92 games Shaqiri would score 15 and assist 15 for Stoke.

Since signing for Liverpool, however, Shaqiri has found his playing time limited.

The Swiss international has made just four Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season.

Three of those came as a sub and the one game Shaqiri did start in the league saw him subbed off at half-time.

Shaqiri has also made a five-minute sub appearance for Liverpool in the Champions League and he played the full 90 minutes in the League Cup vs Chelsea.

‘I decided to move to Liverpool fully aware that I would have a harder time’

Xherdan Shaqiri has since spoken out about his time at Liverpool so far, claiming he expected to not be featured as much for a side such as Liverpool.

On his time at Liverpool so far, Shaqiri stated:

“You don’t have to keep me happy.

“The process has worked well for me so far. Sure, every professional wants to play. I do too, but there are still a lot of games to come.

“On top of that, you just need to look and acknowledge what has been done at Liverpool recently. A lot of people did a good job.

“That’s why everything hasn’t been turned upside down overnight.

“What is happening is exactly what I expected. I decided to move to Liverpool fully aware that I would have a harder time in a club of this standing than, for example, other clubs that tried to help me.”
