Tottenham proved they can play against the biggest teams in the world on Tuesday night in the Champions League.

Spurs put in a brilliant performance in a 1-1 draw at Real Madrid.

The result means that Spurs are looking assured to progress through to the knockout phase of the competition.

Tottenham have two wins and a draw on the board in three games. That’s an identical record to Real Madrid.

As for APOEL and Borussia Dortmund, they are both on one point after three games.

Should Spurs beat APOEL at Wembley, they’ll be on the verge of advancing in the UCL.

Real levelled from the spot against Spurs.

After Tottenham had taken the lead via a Raphael Varane own goal, Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the penalty spot.

Ronaldo converted after Toni Kroos had been hacked down in the box by Serge Aurier.

That’s his second goal of the season after Ronaldo opened his account against Getafe last weekend in La Liga.

But it was a frustrating night for Ronaldo, who looked agitated throughout the game.

The Spanish press have since honed in on Ronaldo’s performance during the Spurs draw. They’ve picked up on all the reactions, frustrations and gestures of the Real Madrid star in the Champions League stalemate.
