The Aston Villa faithful have taken to social media in their numbers on Friday evening, to express concern over the ongoing struggles of one member of the club’s squad.
Steven Gerrard’s troops, of course, were back in action a short time ago.
On the back of an altogether underwhelming opening to the campaign, the Claret and Blue welcomed Southampton to Villa Park, eyeing just a 2nd victory of the Premier League season.
And, when all was said and done, return to winning ways is precisely what the evening’s hosts managed.
A solitary goal - netted by Jacob Ramsey late in the first-half - proved all that was required to separate the two sides come the full-time whistle.
As alluded to above, though, despite their side’s eventual triumph, and the relief that came with it, many of an Aston Villa persuasion were nevertheless keen to make their frustrations known post-match.
This came owing to the performance of one member of Steven Gerrard’s ranks in particular.
The player in question? Leon Bailey.
Jamaican international Bailey was afforded his latest starting berth on Friday, lining out on the right of Villa’s frontline.
After again failing to make an impression, though, the ex-Bayer Leverkusen star has since been singled out for heavy criticism across the Villans’ fanbase, with just some of the social media highlights showcased below:
