Wolves vs Newcastle betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Wolves vs Newcastle prediction: Wolves 2-0 Newcastle

Wolves just keep on winning.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are currently enjoying their best winning streak of the season and they want to keep that going.

As for Newcastle, despite defeat last time out, there are reasons to be optimistic but this will be a tough test.

Will Wolves be victorious just as they were at St James’ in December?

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Newcastle: Who will win?

In a battle of the last two Championship Champions, Wolves are odds on at 8/11 to claim victory.

Newcastle have won just two away games all season and are 17/4 to change that.

A draw, which Rafa Benítez would be delighted with, is 5/2.

Both teams to score no is 8/1.

Wolverhampton Wanderers to win and both teams to score no is 13/8.

Diogo Jota

Raúl Jiménez has been in great form scoring 4 in his last 4. The Mexican is 7/2 to score first and 11/8 to net anytime.

Diogo Jota scored a hat-trick in Wolves’ recent 4-3 win over Leicester. He’s 9/2 to break the deadlock and 17/10 to get his sixth of the season.

Salomón Rondón is Newcastle’s top scorer with 6. He’s 11/2 to score first and 11/5 to net anytime.

Miguel Almirón could make his Newcastle debut after joining from Atlanta United for £21 million. The Paraguayan is 14/1 to score first and 5/1 to get his first Toon Army goal anytime.

Both Jiménez and Jota to score is 13/2.

Both Rondón and Almirón to score is 18/1.

Are Wolves destined for Europe?

Last weekend, they defeated Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park; their first win there since September 1979.

That was Wolves’ third win in a row after a 4-3 victory over Leicester City and a 3-0 drubbing of West Ham.

Impressively, those wins all came over sides currently between ninth and twelfth who are also challenging for that best of the rest position.

Will European football be returning to Molineux for the first time since 1995?

In midweek, they continued their FA Cup run too.

They did have to come from behind in their replay with local rivals Shrewsbury Town but eventually came through 3-2.

That sets up a fifth round tie away at Bristol City.

Their confidence is sky high right now so will this side win again?

Newcastle will be out to stop them.

Last time out, the Magpies were beaten 1-0 at Wembley after conceding a late goal against Tottenham.

However, prior to that game, they’d thumped Cardiff 3-0 and, far more surprisingly, come from behind to down Manchester City 2-1.

That means they’re currently 17th in the table, level on points with Southampton, who are third bottom.

11 of their 25 points have been won on the road but they’ve won just 1 of their last 6 away matches.

If Newcastle leave Molineux with anything, then they’ll be delighted.

Straight after their FA Cup win over Shrewsbury, Wolves jetted off to Marbella for some warm weather training.

Nuno Espírito Santo is expected to make 6 changes from the side that lined up in that match.

One of which is in goal where Premier League ever present Rui Patrício will come back in.

Only 4 Premier League goalkeepers have a better goals conceded to minute played ratio than Portugal’s number 1.

The back 3 and 2 wing-backs will be unchanged.

Right wing-back Matt Doherty scored twice on Tuesday and grabbed a 94th minute winner when these two met in December.

In recent weeks, Anderlecht loanee Leander Dendoncker has established himself in midfield as they’ve changed from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2.

His midfield partners, João Moutinho and Rúben Neves, will also both come back into the side.

Diogo Jota and Raúl Jiménez will start upfront together; they have 14 goals between them this season.

Adama Traoré, Ivan Cavaleiro and Hélder Costa, who all started in the cup, will all be on the bench.

Wolves have used the fewest players of any Premier League club in the league this season (18) and that continuity should help see them to another win.

As for the visitors, their fans could get to see their record signing for the first time.

They’ll also be hoping that goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka has put his howler at Wembley behind him.

He’ll be behind a back 5 which could include Antonio Barreca.

He joined on loan from Monaco on deadline day and, after a cameo last weekend, could be set for a first Newcastle start.

In midfield, they’re still without Ki Sung-yueng, Mohamed Diamé and Jonjo Shelvey who are all injured.

These absentees have allowed 21-year old Sean Longstaff to establish himself in the team; he’s started the last 5 games.

Further forward, could be the man everybody on Tyneside is talking about.

Miguel Almirón could not play against Tottenham due to visa issues but is available for this match.

He scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists as Atlanta United won the Eastern Conference Championship and then MLS Cup in 2018.

Will his star shine as brightly the other side of the Atlantic?

He’ll hope to link up with Salomón Rondón just as he did with Josef Martínez; another Venezuelan forward.

Can Almirón inspire Newcastle to a somewhat rare away win?
