Leicester lose to Manchester United
Leicester City lost their opening match of the new season.
In hardly a surprise result, Man United beat the Foxes 2-1 at Old Trafford on Friday night.
Jamie Vardy came off the bench to score a late consolation for Leicester.
A second minute Paul Pogba penalty put United ahead. Luke Shaw was the unlikely match winner for Man United with his first goal for the club.
Wolves & Southampton
Leicester City’s next two matches are against Wolves and then Southampton.
The Foxes welcome Wolves to the King Power Stadium next Saturday. The following weekend Leicester head to St Mary’s to take on the Saints.
Claude Puel & Thierry Henry
Are the Mirror having a laugh?
According to the tabloid on Sunday, Leicester are already considering sacking Claude Puel.
Indeed, Puel only has two matches to save himself, if the Mirror’s report is accurate:
Claude Puel is already on the brink at Leicester City — with Roberto Martinez and Thierry Henry in the frame to replace him.
Puel is understood to have just two games to save his job with City chiefs ready to wield the axe during the international break if results continue to go against them.
Dark clouds have been hovering over Puel’s head since the end of last season. The Foxes finished the 2017-18 season losing five of seven matches.
Of course, Martinez was Belgium’s national team manager at the 2018 World Cup.
Thierry Henry was an assistant to Martinez with the Belgian Red Devils.
It’s also worth stressing that Henry has never been a manager before.
