Wolves’ Helder Costa to join Leeds on loan/Jack Clarke to return to Elland Road from Spurs next season

Both Helder Costa and Jack Clarke look set to spend next season on loan with Championship outfit Leeds United.

Wolves star set for Leeds

Versatile attacker/winger Costa has been on the books of Wolves since 2016.

After impressing during a year-long loan stint at Molineux, the Portuguese international was subsequently purchased outright from Benfica the following summer.

Costa went on to play a key role in the club’s return to the Premier League during the 2017/18 campaign, but struggled somewhat for game-time this past season in the English top-flight.

The 25-year-old managed a respectable 16 league starts, but generally found himself behind the likes of Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez in Nuno Espirito Santo’s attacking pecking order as the season progressed.

All told, Costa managed just 1 goal and 2 assists across the Premier League campaign.

As such, as per a report from John Percy of the Telegraph, the gifted attacker looks all set to spend next season out on loan.

And Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United are set to prove the beneficiaries:

Confirmation of Costa’s Elland Road switch is expected to arrive tomorrow.

Clarke to make immediate return

Another winger who looks set to be plying his trade with Leeds in 2019/20, meanwhile, is Jack Clarke.

Highly-regarded 18-year-old Clarke came up through the youth system of the Whites, before breaking into the club’s first-team setup on a consistent basis last season.

The teen went on to rack up 24 Championship appearances (4 starts), notching 2 goals and 2 assists in the process.

And Clarke’s impressive showings, despite his tender years, have since led to mounting speculation of late that the wide-man is all set for a move to Premier League giants Tottenham.

Previous reports suggested that Clarke was surprisingly set to remain in north London to fight for a starting berth next season, rather than be farmed out on loan.

The latest update on the starlet, though, suggests otherwise.

As per Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post, Clarke will in fact return to Elland Road on loan next season.

His Spurs move is expected to be made official tomorrow.
