Wolves vs Pyunik
Wolves host Pyunik on Thursday in the second-leg of their Europa League qualifying tie.
Wolves already saw off Crusaders FC in the second qualifying round, and have an advantage as they head into Thursday’s tie.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side beat Pyunik 4-0 in the reverse leg last Thursday.
Matt Doherty, Raul Jimenez (2) and Ruben Neves got the goals on that occasion.
Nuno Santo on Wolves’ squad
Ahead of the second-leg, Nuno held his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
During said press conference, the Portuguese tactician spoke briefly about his squad, claiming that while he still has to make decisions over the starting eleven, Wolves have a full squad available:
“The interpretation is it’s a new game and a new challenge – it’s an opportunity to play good and perform well.
“We still have to make a decision to prepare the starting XI but having all the squad available gives us good options.
“Matt Doherty had a problem in pre-season, it was different to all the squad. “He stopped (training) but he didn’t stop totally.
“He had a fantastic answer in both games and made a big effort in both games, to us it was a big, big help.” As quoted by the Express & Star.
Santo was also asked if he had his eye on Monday’s game vs Manchester United.
This would make some sense, given the fact that Wolves are at home to weaker opposition on Thursday with a 4-0 lead.
However, the Wolves boss insisted that he is taking it game by game:
“No, not at all, step by step, game by game
“The Europa League is a challenge, it’s a new reality for us and we want to embrace it and really give it a go.
“We think we’re well equipped.”
