Southampton 3 – Wolves 1
Southampton picked up three valuable points against Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Saints have moved up to 36 points from 33 games. Cardiff are eight points behind Southampton after they lost 2-0 at Burnley.
Nathan Redmond scored twice in the first half on the south coast.
Wily Boly had levelled for Wolves, while Shane Long scored Southampton’s all-important third goal.
Nuno Espirito Santo walked out of the post-match presser
One question upset Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo after the Southampton defeat.
After a terrific season, Wolves are on a bit of a downer.
They haven’t won away from home in their last six attempts.
One journalist tried to ask the Wolves boss to explain why the club aren’t performing on the road right now.
But rather than answer the question, Nuno got angry with the reporter.
In the end the Wolves boss got up and stormed out the press room as a result.
It’s worth noting that Nuno didn’t gloss over his side’s performance at St Mary’s. He said:
I think it was a bad game. A bad performance.
Since the beginning of the game, our defensive organisation was not at our best.
We are a team that wants to compete in every game, and we didn’t compete at our best.
We need to regroup, analyse, look at the game and react for the next one.
