Bad for West Ham: Jack Wilshere setback before Everton

Wilshere to miss out

Jack Wilshere will miss West Ham’s game this weekend after trouble with his ankle.

The midfielder is well known for suffering with injury issues, and his manager has noted he will miss the weekend’s action.

Manuel Pellegrini said that the midfielder will miss out and provided a further injury update.

He added that Javier Hernandez is under the weather, and hasn’t trained.

Sky Sports report he said: “Jack felt pain in his ankle two days ago. We will see in the next day what is the reason.

“He doesn’t have a chance to play (this week) – Tuesday, we will see, after he has a medical review.

“Javier Hernandez is sick and has had a virus for around 10 days, so he hasn’t been in training.”

Pellegrini’s own future

There has been some speculation over Pellegrini’s own future.

The Hammers have struggled this season, and Pellegrini has been linked with the sack.

However, after a vote of confidence from the owners and Karen Brady, it seems he will be in the job for some time to come.

“I know the way they think, the owners and Karen,” Pellegrini added. “I spoke with all of them before I started this project here at West Ham.

“Of course it is always important that you know they are supporting you. Nobody expected to lose the first four games but that will not change, at least my mind.

“If the owners and Karen continue thinking the same way, that is always good news.”
