Fresh update on Wilfried Zaha situation
Wilfried Zaha’s camp reportedly have ‘doubts’ over whether Arsenal can afford to sign him from Crystal Palace, with the Eagles demanding £80 million.
It emerged earlier in the summer that Zaha was a prime target for Arsenal.
The Ivorian has even reportedly begged Crystal Palace to allow him to leave the club for Arsenal.
However, the big stumbling block is how much Zaha could cost the Gunners.
While Arsenal’s budget could have been around £100 million if they had won the Europa League final, their loss to Chelsea means that their budget instead stands at around £40million.
It’s previously been claimed that £80 million is the fee needed to sign Zaha, standing at double Arsenal’s entire reported budget.
Now, the reality is said to be hitting Zaha and his team.
Doubts over whether deal can be done with Crystal Palace
According to a new report by Sky Sports, ‘Sources close to Wilfried Zaha say there are doubts over whether Arsenal can afford to sign him’.
Sky’s report goes on to reaffirm previous suggestions that Palace want £80 million for their star man.
A report by the Mirror recently suggested that Arsenal could include several players in a deal to bring the fee down, after having a £40 million bid rejected by Palace.
However, Sky claim that Palace have ‘no interest’ in an exchange deal.
Their report explains that ‘Sky Sports News understands the Eagles also have no interest in taking players from Arsenal as part of a deal that would see Zaha head to the Emirates’.
With that in mind, Zaha’s dream move to Arsenal is currently a pipe dream.
