Wilfried Zaha hands in Crystal Palace transfer request – Reports

Zaha trying to force Palace’s hand?

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has reportedly submitted a transfer request on Wednesday afternoon, in an attempt to force through a move to Everton.

In one of the most unexpected transfer sagas of the summer, Everton are hot on the trail of Zaha.

The Ivorian has been brilliant for Crystal Palace in recent seasons, but looked set to leave this summer.

Initially, it looked as though a move to Arsenal was likely.

However, the Gunners were frustrated by Crystal Palace’s valuation.

In the end, they seemingly decided to pull the plug, before securing the signing of Lille’s Nicolas Pepe.

That left it looking like Zaha would have to stay put at Selhurst Park.

That was until Everton entered the race.

The Toffees’ latest bid even reached £70 million, plus James McCarthy and Cenk Tosun on loan, according to Sky, but it was rejected.

Zaha submits formal transfer request

Now, in an attempt to force through a move, Wilfried Zaha has submitted a formal transfer request.

According to Sky Sports and the Telegraph’s Jason Burt, Zaha submitted that request this afternoon.

Sky’s report claims that ‘Palace are looking for at least £80m for Zaha and the player is understood to be very disappointed and disillusioned about the situation.’

Meanwhile, the Telegraph have suggested that Zaha’s decision came shortly after Everton had a £30milllion bid rejected for Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi.

With just 24 hours until the transfer window closes, this puts all parties in a difficult position.

Palace must decide whether keeping a disgruntled player is best, or whether they accept his transfer request.

Everton must also decide whether they want to continue their pursuit or move for alternatives.

One thing is for sure, this one could go down to the wire.

Not only are the Toffees trying to agree a deal for Zaha, they’re negotiating on several fronts.

According to reports, bids for Chris Smalling and Alex Iwobi have both been rejected.
