Wilfried Zaha ‘expects’ to join Everton before end of transfer window/Crystal Palace seal Gary Cahill deal

As per a report from the Independent, Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha expects to make a move to Everton before the close of the transfer window.

Palace standout

The story surrounding the future of Eagles’ star man Zaha has proven one of the talking points of the summer transfer window so far.

On the back of a standout campaign last time out, during which he racked up 10 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League, reports mounted over the last month that Palace’s London rivals Arsenal had set their sights firmly on Zaha.

The Gunners’ subsequent proposals, however, fell well short of the Ivorian’s valuation.

Palace’s stout stance eventually saw Arsenal turn their attentions elsewhere, with the capital giants having since sealed the signature of Lille standout Nicolas Pepe:

Everton bound?

As such, this has since opened the door for any and all other suitors of Zaha to step forward.

The club to have done so with the most intent to this point, meanwhile, have been Everton.

The Toffees are thought to be on the lookout for reinforcements out wide, on the back of Ademola Lookman’s departure for RB Leipzig.

And Marco Silva and co. evidently feel as though Zaha is the kind of player who could push the club to the next level in their hopes of cracking the long-established Premier League top-6 pecking order.

The Merseysiders’ opening bid for the Palace star, though, worth a rumoured £52 million, was quickly shut down by the Selhurst hierarchy.

But, as per the aforementioned update courtesy of the Independent’s Miguel Delaney this evening, Zaha himself nevertheless expects to be donning the blue of Everton when the new season gets underway.

A £65 million offer is predicted to be forthcoming from Goodison Park imminently.

Delaney adds that such a proposal is likely to be accepted ‘as long as the money is up front’.

Cahill joins Eagles

In other Crystal Palace news, meanwhile, the Eagles are reported to have signed Gary Cahill.
