West Ham & Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez
It’s already been a busy summer for West Ham United.
The Hammers have signed yet another creative attacking midfielder, after Pablo Fornals left Villarreal on Friday for £25 million.
West Ham have also signed two goalkeepers. Roberto joined as a free agent after being at Espanyol, while David Martin signed from Millwall.
On Saturday, it was confirmed that West Ham lodged a bid for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez.
Gomez is a 22-year-old Uruguayan international, and Sky Sports claim that he has a £43.3 million release clause.
Under contract at Celta until 2022, Maxi Gomez scored 13 goals in 35 La Liga matches last term.
West Ham and Valencia have both had bids of £29m bids (plus add ons) accepted by Celta Vigo for striker Maxi Gomez.
It is now up to the player to decide where he goes…

Will West Ham sign Maxi Gomez?
The Sunday Times note that West Ham may lose out to Valencia in the race to sign Maxi Gomez:
West Ham have had an offer of £29m accepted by Celta Vigo for striker Maxi Gomez, according to reports last night.
The Hammers, though, have opposition from Valencia, who have also had a bid for the same amount (plus add-ons) accepted by their La Liga rivals.
In the Guardian, not only are West Ham painted out as being in second place behind Valencia, but the claim that West Ham’s bid was accepted is challenged head-on:
West Ham face an uphill battle to convince Maxi Gomez to choose them over Valencia.
It is understood that West Ham’s offer for Gomez has not been accepted.
West Ham & Eibar’s Joan Jordan
Returning to the Sunday Times, it’s further claimed that West Ham have lodged a bid for Eibar’s Joan Jordan:
West Ham have made a £13m bid for Eibar’s 24-year-old defensive midfielder Joan Jordan.
24-year-old Jordan is a Spanish midfielder who played 36 matches for Eibar last season.
While he scored four league goals and chipped in with four assists, Jordan also collected 10 yellow cards in La Liga.
The assumption is that Jordan is being viewed as a possible alternative to Mark Noble.
