However, they had lost just one league game under Solskjaer before Watford.

They are also battling it out for a Champions League spot and started the weekend two points behind 4th place Arsenal.

Watford, on the other hand, started the day in 8th place one point behind 7th place Wolves.

The Hornets had, however, taken just three points from a possible 27 against the top six sides this season before Saturday’s tie.

Solskjaer explains Lindelof absence

Heading into the game there was one major noticeable absence from Man United’s matchday squad.

Victor Lindelof has been a key figure in United’s backline since OGS  took over but was completed omitted from the squad to face Watford.

Solskjaer has since revealed that Lindelof missed out because he is dealing with a minor problem:

“It is a good team we have put out. There are still a couple that we are still nurturing.

“Jesse and Romelu are yet to play a full game yet, Victor is not injured, he had some issues.

“So it is good, the training week has been really good. Good focus, good intensity. It looks alright.”As quoted by football365.
