Why Roberto Pereyra and Isaac Success missed Watford’s clash with Brighton

Watford manager Javi Gracia has this afternoon provided an explanation for the absences of Roberto Pereyra and Isaac Success, for his side’s clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Brighton vs Watford

The Hornets went head to head with Chris Hughton’s Seagulls at the Amex, in a Premier League clash, a short time ago.

Watford headed into proceedings on the back of a heartbreaking result last time out, when Javi Gracia’s men fell to a late Tottenham comeback at Wembley to eventually suffer a 2-1 defeat.

Ahead of their loss in North London, this afternoon’s visitors were unbeaten in 6 across all competitions.

As such, Watford were no doubt keen to get their positive run of form back on track this afternoon.

In the end, though, a largely-disappointing showing from Javi Gracia’s outfit saw the Hornets stumble to a 0-0 stalemate at the Amex.

Watford’s growing injury list

Watford looked largely bereft of ideas throughout the clash, with the absences of a number of key players having been evident.

Abdoulaye Doucoure missed out once again this afternoon, with the Frenchman continuing to struggle with a knee injury. Kiko Femenia, meanwhile, was also, as expected, absent.

However, ahead of kick-off, the announcement of the Hornets’ starting XI saw a pair of surprise omissions revealed:

The duo in question were Roberto Pereryra and Isaac Success, with Javi Gracia having since revealed that both players were struggling with respective injury problems in training yesterday, and were left out for precautionary reasons this afternoon as a result:
