Liverpool U23 3 – Derby U23 3
While Liverpool’s senior side beat Newcastle 3-1 on Saturday, the club’s U23s drew 3-3 with Derby County.
Liverpool found the target thanks to goals from Elijah Dixon-Bonner, Curtis Jones and a Derby own goal.
Reds goalkeeper Ben Winterbottom also saved a penalty in the match.
Why Rhian Brewster only played 20 minutes
The match against Derby came after the Newcastle game earlier in the day.
During the first-half against Newcastle, Liverpool forward Divock Origi suffered an ankle injury.
Origi was replaced by Roberto Firmino.
With one forward already injured, Liverpool fans may have worried when Rhian Brewster only played 20 minutes for Liverpool U23.
However, Liverpool have posted the following update about Brewster on their club website:
Rhian Brewster departed the field early as a precaution due to Divock Origi picking up an injury earlier on in the day for the first team.
By linking Brewster’s substitution to Origi’s injury, the assumption is that the 19-year-old will now be drafted into Liverpool’s first team.
Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures
Brewster could find himself on Liverpool’s bench on Tuesday night in the Champions League in Italy against Napoli.
Next weekend, Liverpool take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
After that, it’s a midweek Carabao Cup clash at MK Dons.

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen will be on hand as draw assistant.
