Why Nick Viergever was Tottenham’s hero after Barcelona

Barcelona 1 – Tottenham 1

Tottenham are through to the knockout phase of the Champions League.

Few would have predicted that after Spurs lost their opening two matches in Europe this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side drew 1-1 in the Camp Nou on Tuesday.

Ousmane Dembele took advantage of mistakes from Kyle Walker-Peters as Barcelona took a first lead in Spain.

But Lucas Moura came off the bench to score a late leveller for the Lillywhites.

Inter Milan 1 – PSV 1

Tottenham’s progression in the Champions League was sealed thanks to PSV’s draw in the San Siro.

Had Inter Milan beaten PSV on home soil, the Italians would have advanced out the group.

But Inter had a Spursy night in front of their own fans, only managing to draw 1-1 at home.

Inter fell behind in the first half when errors at the back allowed Hirving Lozano to head home.

Mauro Icardi scored in the second half, but Inter failed to find a crucial second.

Nick Viergever was Tottenham’s hero

Many Spurs fans are waking up on Wednesday to note how Nick Viergever was Tottenham’s hero last night.
