Bad week for Tottenham after Bayern Munich & Brighton defeats

Tottenham head into the international break after two horrendous results.

After Bayern Munich won 7-2 in north London in the Champions League, Tottenham lost 3-0 at Brighton on Saturday.

Neal Maupay opened for Brighton, before Aaron Connolly scored twice on his full Seagulls debut.

The result leaves Spurs with just 11 points after 8 games.

Why Mauricio Pochettino is traveling to Qatar

As confirmed on the Transfer Window Podcast, Mauricio Pochettino is now set to travel to Qatar during the international break.

Journalist Duncan Castles has confirmed that Pochettino is set to speak at the Aspire Global Summit.

This is an event which is funded by the Qatari royal family.

Pochettino & PSG

According to Duncan Castles, Pochettino’s trip to Qatar could draw the Argentine closer to a move to PSG.

Of course, Pochettino played for PSG during his career.

Duncan Castles announced that PSG have previously considered Pochettino as a candidate to be their manager.

Thomas Tuchel is now in the PSG dugout, however Castles noted that patience with the German manager could waiver if he’s unable to control the dressing room this season, and/or if results don’t go PSG’s way.

PSG have already lost twice this Ligue 1 season.

Would Pochettino be interested in taking over at PSG?

According to Duncan Castles, Pochettino would consider leaving Tottenham for PSG. The reporter said:

Pochettino has been looking at his options for some time now.

What’s Pochettino’s Tottenham contract & what’s he said about staying at Spurs?

Now 47, Pochettino is under contract at Tottenham until 2023.

Moreover, following the Brighton defeat, Pochettino stressed that he’s fully committed to Spurs:

I don’t need to show my commitment. My commitment is there after five years and a half [at the club]. I need to accept all criticism.

It’s not going to change my ambition. We can bounce back. I feel sorry for our fans.

No, I’m not worried [about being sacked]. What worries me is life, not football.

Hugo Lloris injury update

Tottenham have confirmed that Hugo Lloris sustained a dislocated elbow during the Brighton game.

Spurs have yet to outline how long Lloris is likely to be out for.

The fear is that Lloris may be sidelined for several months, although it’s too early to be sure about the injury timetable.

ESPN FC believe that Lloris may be out for two months, and possibly longer.
