Why Kyle Walker and Ilkay Gundogan are missing for Manchester City against Aston Villa

Manchester City hunting down Chelsea

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side will be looking to make it four wins on the bounce as they head to the midlands to take on Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa side that have won their last two games.

Gerrard has ushered in a new lease of life in the absence of Dean Smith, and appears to finally have Villa heading back in the right direction after 5 straight defeats which ultimately saw Smith get the sack.

However, the visit of the reigning Premier League champions will prove the toughest test of his managerial career, and he will have to make do without Danny Ings, who has been ruled out through injury.

Will he be able to aid former side Liverpool and pull off an impressive result against Raheem Sterling and co.?

Why Kyle Walker is missing

A short while ago, the starting line-ups were revealed, and there was one major omission for Manchester City.

The man in question? Kyle Walker.

The Englishman, along with Ilkay Gundogan, was missing from the matchday squad named by Pep Guardiola.

But, now, as per Simon Bajkowsi of the Manchester Evening News, an update on the situation has been forthcoming.

Both Walker and Gundogan are allegedly out after picking up “niggles” in the time between their win over West Ham and this evening, while the suspended John Stones is a victim of an injury, too.

Will City still be able to pick up all three points?
