Why Jamie Vardy was benched
The big news for Leicester was that Jamie Vardy was left on the bench at kickoff at Wembley Stadium.
There had been little to suggest that Vardy wouldn’t start against Spurs this weekend.
Moreover, Vardy is well-known to have an awesome scoring record against the top six sides.
However, rumours have been rife for a while that Vardy doesn’t see eye-to-eye with manager Claude Puel.
The BBC have played up suggestions of a rift between the manager and the striker.
On the BBC website on Sunday, readers are told the following:
According to some reports, Vards was judged to have been a tad unhappy that his chief went to talk to Manchester United’s Paul Pogba after the 1-0 defeat last weekend.
Puel said: “I have a good relationship with him. We know Jamie – after he lost he is angry, it’s normal for a player.”

⚠️ JAMIE VARDY IS ON THE BENCH FOR CITY ⚠️
It's one of two changes to the team that lost to Manchester United, with Rachid Ghezzal replaces him.

Claude Puel has gone full Claude Puel.
Vardy on the bench – no striker on the pitch.
He is a brave man, I'll give him that.

Unpopular opinion: Vardy hasn't been playing well, and if we'd had a striker of any note he'd have been "rested" a few times this season.
Strange lineup though. Demarai up front hasn't ever really worked has it? Anyway come on you blue bastards! #lcfc

Claude Puel continues to insist that there is no lingering personal issue with Jamie Vardy, but Tottenham's central defenders will be pleased not to see him in the team. File Demarai Gray as a false nine under 'big old gamble'.
