Why Fernando Torres attended Brøndby vs Copenhagen

Fernando Torres at Brøndby vs Copenhagen

Spanish star Fernando Torres was spotted at Brøndby versus Copenhagen on Sunday.

The Copenhagen derby is usually a highlight of the Danish Superliga season.

Brøndby have 16 points after 11 games, while Copenhagen have 25 points on the board.

Why was Fernando Torres at the Copenhagen derby?

Fernando Torres was at the match with Brøndby’s owner, Jan Bech Andersen.

Andersen was snapped giving El Nino a tour of the Brøndby Stadium.

The assumption is that Torres is a friend of Andersen, and that’s why he was at the game.

However, Torres fanned the transfer speculation flames, by joking that he could be the club’s new signing:

It’s also worth noting that Jan Bech Andersen has a long list of famous football friends.

Several years ago, when he was still at Chelsea, John Terry spent time with the Brøndby owner.

Fernando Torres is retired

Back in June, Fernando Torres announced his retirement after an 18-year career.

Torres closed out his career in Japan, playing for Sagan Tosu.

However, Torres will be remembered for his two stints at Atletico Madrid, his magical time at Liverpool, and his mixed success with Chelsea.

Of course, at Chelsea, Torres won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup.

He also won the 2010 World Cup with Spain.
