Why Cristiano Ronaldo could miss Ralph Rangnick’s first game in charge of Manchester United

Why Cristiano Ronaldo could miss Ralph Rangnick’s first game in charge of Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo hits 800 goals

Thanks to his brace against Arsenal, Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in history to score more than 800 official professional goals.

Ronaldo was on hand to sweep home early in the second half to hand Manchester United the lead, taking his tally to 800 goals across his career.

Then, after an unnecessary challenge by Martin Odegaard on Fred inside the box, the Portuguese star stepped up to convert a penalty for what proved to be the winner.

But will he be involved against Crystal Palace?

Ronaldo a doubt for Palace

Now, however, he may not be involved against Crystal Palace, Rangnick’s first game in charge, on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils return to Old Trafford to take on Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace, who have lost their last two games.

However, if reports are to be believed, Ronaldo may be an injury doubt.

As per both The Sun and The Mirror, Ronaldo could well have suffered a knee injury during his iconic Siu celebration, limping down the tunnel upon being substituted late in the game.

Should Ronaldo prove unfit to start, the mantle could well be passed onto Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial, but they do not have quite the same aura or clinical finishing as the main man.
