Why Callum Wilson missed Everton & Chelsea transfer update

Everton vs Bournemouth

Bournemouth travelled to Everton in the first Premier League game of the day.

The Cherries started the day in 12th place but needed to win to keep in the running for a Europa League spot.

However, Eddie Howe’s side had won just one of their last five league games before facing Everton.

Everton have also been on a poor run of form in recent weeks.

The Toffees have lost four of their last five Premier League matches and have slipped down to 11th in the table.

Callum Wilson injury update

Given their poor form, facing Everton was a great chance for Bournemouth to bounce back.

Unfortunately, they would have to do it without their star striker, Callum Wilson.

The full Bournemouth line-up for Sunday’s game can see be seen below.

Eddie Howe has also provided an update on why Wilson missed out vs Everton:

“Callum’s hamstring strain isn’t serious but enough to keep him out of this game.”

Howe was also pleased to welcome back Adam Smith after the defender had recovered from an injury:

“It’s great to have Adam Smith back. He’s done a bit of training and looks really good.”

Wilson to Chelsea?

While Howe stated Wilson only missed out on Sunday due to injury, it may have also had something to do with the forward being a Chelsea target.

With Chelsea seemingly in the market for a striker this January, the two names top of their list are said to be Wilson and Gonzalo Higuain.

Now, however, Bournemouth are said to have slapped a £75m price tag on Wilsons head.
