Why Antonio Conte was at Watford vs Leicester

Watford vs Leicester

The opening match on Sunday in the Premier League was Watford vs Leicester.

Both sides came into the match in good spirits.

Watford and Leicester are both in the running to win the ‘best of the rest’ league in the top flight.

Javi Gracia has done an excellent job at Vicarage Road, which recently earned him an improved deal.

As for the Foxes, Brendan Rodgers is now in charge after Claude Puel’s sacking.

Chelsea old boys Steve Holland & Antonio Conte

The TV cameras spotted two Chelsea old boys at the Watford vs Leicester game.

Steve Holland was sat next to Antonio Conte.

Holland is now a coach with the FA. Accordingly, with the international break on the horizon, he was there scouting the English talent on show.

But why was Conte at Watford? Is the Italian trying to find a job in the Premier League?

The truth is that Conte has been spotted at a few Premier League games this season.

Most recently Conte was spotted at Craven Cottage to watch Fulham take on Tottenham.

As hinted at by Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur, Conte is still in the capital because of Chelsea.

Why Antonio Conte is spending so much time in London

A few weeks ago, Conte revealed to Sky Sports Italia that he’s still embroiled in legal wrangling with Chelsea. He said:

Chelsea is the past for me now. I don’t want to talk about it, especially as there is still legal action on-going between me and the club.

Chelsea paid Conte 9 million after he was sacked. But Conte is seeking further compensation believing the timing of his sacking blocked him from employment this year.

Accordingly, Conte was seemingly at Sunday’s match as his personal issues drag on.
