When Bernd Leno is expected to start again for Arsenal revealed after Arteta ‘promise’

When Bernd Leno is expected to start again for Arsenal revealed after Arteta ‘promise’

Arsenal beat Norwich

Arsenal were in Premier League action on Saturday, facing off with Norwich in a must-win clash.

Mikel Arteta would head into the tie with serious pressure building on him after he had failed to guide Arsenal to a single point in their opening three games of the season.

Granted, the north Londoners did have a fairly tough run of games which has already seen them face Chelsea and Manchester City – two of the favourites for the title this term.

Arsenal have also had their fair share of injury and covid issues to deal with of late.

However, with key players like Ben White and Gabriel able to return to the side against Norwich, a win was very much expected, especially as Norwich had also failed to pick up a single point in the PL this campaign before Saturday.

And luckily for Arsenal, they were able to edge past the Canaries, picking up a 1-0 win.

Leno still Arsenal’s no.1?

Saturday’s tie was also Arsenal’s first league clean sheet of the season and second overall after managing a shutout in the League Cup vs West Brom.

On both occasions, new signing Aaron Ramsdale was in between the sticks over Bernd Leno.

Following on from Arsenal’s win over Norwich, fans may now be expecting Ramsdale to usurp Leno as their no.1, especially as the German’s form has been fairly patchy over the last year and a bit.

However, a recent report from Bild’ Christian Falk suggests that this is not the case.

According to Falk, Mikel Arteta promised Leno that he would have a break for two matches, meaning he should be back starting in goal vs Tottenham later this month.

And with Spurs a much bigger clash than Norwich or Burnley (Arsenal’s next game) it does appear to suggest the Spaniard still sees Leno as his no.1 and just wanted to give him a short break/hand Ramsdale some minutes.
