Crystal Palace 5 – Bournemouth 3
Selhurst Park witnessed an eight-goal thriller on the final day of the Premier League season.
Crystal Palace beat Bournemouth 5-3 as the Eagles finished the season in 12th-place in the division on 49 points.
Bournemouth ended the campaign in 14th-place with 45 points.
Michy Batshuayi got Palace off to the perfect start against the Cherries, as the Belgian scored twice in the first-half.
The Eagles added further goals through a Jack Simpson own goal, Patrick Van Aanholt and Andros Townsend.
Jefferson Lerma, Jordon Ibe and Josh King scored for the visitors.
Will Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi move to Crystal Palace?
Batshuayi joined the Eagles in January from Chelsea.
The forward only agreed a six-month loan deal with Palace, though, which now means Batshuayi will return to the Blues.
The 25-year-old scored six goals in 13 matches for Palace to help keep them in the Premier League.
For the record, Batshuayi is under contract at Chelsea until 2021.
Could the attacker make a permanent switch to south London this off-season?
After the Bournemouth match, Roy Hodgson issued the following comments on the Chelsea loanee:
Nobody at the club is anxious to see any of those players leave, in fact quite the reverse. That’s why we’ve committed them to long-term contracts.
Batshuayi is a different case, he’s on loan. That’s not in our hands. I do know Michy Batshuayi has been happy with us.
These are questions for Steve Parish [the chairman] and the board of directors.
I can’t nail people’s feet to the ground, I can’t turn down bids. Only the directorship of the club can do that.
But I can speak on their behalf when I say that they are as aware as we are of how important these people are.
Of course, Chelsea are currently banned from signing any new players for the next two transfer windows.
