Felipe Anderson confirms ‘small injury’
After one match of the new Premier League season, West Ham are bottom of the standings.
The Hammers lost 5-0 at home to Man City on Saturday.
Midway through the second-half, Brazilian playmaker Felipe Anderson limped out of the game.
Javier Hernández came on as a replacement.
In an interview with the club’s website, Felipe Anderson talked about his injury against Man City:
I picked up a small injury.
I tried to get back in, but I think it’s good that I didn’t because we’re just starting the season and I have all the rest of the season to play.
West Ham 0 – Man City 5
Raheem Sterling loves playing and scoring against the Irons.
On Saturday, Sterling opened his Premier League account with a superb hat-trick.
Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero also found the target for City.
Brighton vs West Ham
Next weekend, West Ham travel to Brighton.
It remains unclear whether Felipe Anderson will be fit for the match against the Seagulls, however fans appear to have cause to be optimistic.
Skipper Mark Noble missed the Man City match with a dead leg, and he’s a doubt for Brighton, too.
As for the Seagulls, they come into the match on a high, after Graham Potter’s debut in the dugout at Watford.
Watford, who started last season with four consecutive wins, opened with a heavy 3-0 home defeat.
Abdoulaye Doucouré stuck the ball into his own net to hand Brighton a first-half lead.
Potter then introduced Florin Andone and new signing Neal Maupay in the 64th-minute.
Andone scored a minute later, while Maupay scored on his debut in the 77th.
