West Ham boss David Moyes on possibility of Michail Antonio being fit to face Sheffield United

West Ham boss David Moyes on possibility of Michail Antonio being fit to face Sheffield United

West Ham out of FA Cup

West Ham United were in FA Cup action on Tuesday evening.

The Hammers faced off with Manchester United, as they vied for a spot in the competition’s quarter-finals.

Both sides likely headed into the clash full of confidence, amid solid respective campaigns to date.

When all was said and done at Old Trafford, though, it was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side who came out on top.

90 minutes could not separate the teams, amid an altogether drab affair.

The key moment of magic came in extra-time, though, when Scott McTominay burst into the West Ham box before firing in the only goal of the tie:

Moyes provides Antonio update

Following their loss to Man United, West Ham now have only the Premier League to focus on for the remainder of the campaign.

The Londoners’ next outing takes place on Monday the 15th of February, against basement dwellers Sheffield United.

And though West Ham should, on paper, have few issues in seeing off the Blades, as shown again on Tuesday, they struggle a great deal without the services of Michail Antonio.

The forward missed the trip to Old Trafford due to fatigue.

In turn, following his side’s defeat, David Moyes was asked if Antonio will be back for West Ham’s meeting with Sheffield United, to which he responded:

“I hope so. I do not think it is too bad. I will have to wait and see. Obviously he is a concern if he did not play tonight. We will see how he gets on in the next few days.”
