Andy Carroll confirms injury

Andy Carroll confirmed his injury today via Twitter.

Rumours emerged over the weekend that the target man may have sustained a fresh injury, and the man himself confirmed as much with a Tweet today.

Carroll has been plagued with injuries throughout his career, but he’d appeared to have put those woes behind him, as he finished last season very strongly.

Now 27, the injury problems just won’t go away for Carroll, and he’ll now have to sit out the next six weeks with a knee injury.

Beefs up goals ratio

Carroll’s Tweet was a bit strange, in that he was keen to stress his goal ratio, as if worried that the fans are starting to question his reliability.

But what was really odd about the ratio he produced is that it’s a very beefed up version of his actual goals ratio: Carroll has only scored more than 15 goals in a season once in his career, as his Wikipedia stats attest.

And that was in the Championship with Newcastle.

Carroll probably only meant ’15-20′ as a turn of phrase, but the more accurate and fair Tweet would have read ‘5-9.’
