West Ham to up their bid for Barcelona’s Andre Gomes & a Marko Arnautovic transfer update

West Ham & Barcelona’s Andre Gomes

According to Football London, West Ham are set to lodge their second bid for Barcelona’s Andre Gomes.

25-year-old Portugal international Gomes became a fans’ favourite on loan at Everton in 2018-19.

Gomes played 27 times for Everton in the Premier League, scoring once and contributing one assist.

Everton failed to secure an option to sign Gomes in a permanent deal last summer, which means the Toffees are now running the risk of seeing the Spaniard sign for a Premier League rival.

Details of West Ham’s second Andre Gomes offer

While it’s yet to be officially submitted, the following details are provided regarding West Ham’s second Andre Gomes bid:

Football.London has learned that the Hammers are going to up their bid for the Barcelona midfielder from £18m to £20m, still some way off the required £25m-£30m Barca want for their Portuguese midfielder who spent last season on loan at Everton.

All of this beggars the question: why are West Ham playing games with Gomes?

Marko Arnautovic & Hammers

Football London also drop an interesting note regarding Austrian striker Marko Arnautovic.

Arnautovic was heavily linked with an exit from West Ham last January, when the forward was the subject of a bid from China.

In the end, Arnautovic stayed in east London, and Football London now believe that Arnautovic may remain at the club in 2019-20:

(Arnautovic’s) name is no longer being linked with a departure and is expected to lead the line for the Hammers again next season.

Lucas Perez to leave West Ham

Last weekend, the Sunday Times reported that Lucas Perez is edging closer to a West Ham departure:

West Ham have agreed to sell their former Arsenal striker Lucas Perez to Alaves.

It is reported the Spanish club have agreed a £2.2 million fee for the player who made only 19 appearances this season, scoring six goals.
