Good news for Joe Hart
According to the Times on Friday morning, Joe Hart is likely to be in goal for West Ham this Saturday against Southampton.
Hart has returned to West Ham after playing zero minutes during the international break with England.
Will Hart be in the England squad this summer?
Or, perhaps more importantly, should Hart be picked by Gareth Southgate?
Either way, David Moyes is poised to give the goalie a boost by selecting him against the Saints.
Remember, last time out West Ham lost 3-0 at home against Burnley. Many accused Hart of more cock-ups in that game. Yet the Times report:
David Moyes is strongly leaning towards retaining Joe Hart in goal for West Ham United’s crucial match at home to Southampton tomorrow.
Moyes will make a final decision today but he believes that Hart did nothing wrong before his mistake, when the game was already lost, and his players were distracted by the supporter unrest.
West Ham vs Southampton
There’s a massive relegation six-pointer scheduled for the London Stadium on Saturday.
Southampton, third from bottom in the division, have the opportunity to escape the drop zone is they can win at West Ham.
Southampton were the winners in a thrilling contest in August’s reverse fixture.
West Ham twice came form behind to level the scores before Charlie Austin netted a stoppage-time penalty. Manolo Gabbiadini, Dusan Tadic and Javier Hernandez (2) were the other goal scorers at St Mary’s.
Last time out, Southampton booked their spot in the FA Cup semifinal with a 2-0 away win at Wigan.
Southampton could have Charlie Austin back for the Hammers game.
