As per a report from the Guardian, Premier League outfit West Ham United are once again expressing an interest in the signature of free agent Bernard.
Bernard, a gifted 25-year-old winger, had been on the books of Shakhtar Donetsk since 2013, when he made the move to Europe from Brazilian outfit Atletico Mineiro as a highly sought-after youngster.
He since went on to establish himself a key contributor for the Ukrainian champions, racking up 14 goals and 24 assists in just under 100 league outings for Shakhtar.
In addition, Bernard has managed up appearances for Brazil over the course of his career to date, with his showings for the Selecao and Shakhtar having led to a number of top European clubs expressing an interest in his services.
In the past, all of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona and more have been linked with moves for Bernard, though interest in his signature went surprisingly quiet following the opening of the transfer market back in June, despite the fact that the South American is now a free agent following the expiration of his Skahktar Donetsk contract.
A report from Italian journalist Andersinho Marques last month insisted that Bernard would be plying his trade in the Premier League next season, with Chelsea rumoured to have overtaken the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton in the race for his signature.
San Siro bound?
However, after claims began to emerge in the Italian media over the last week that AC Milan had joined the fray for the winger, Marques provided a further update on Thursday, confirming that the Rossoneri are now seemingly in pole position to secure a deal.

But, as per the aforementioned report from the Guardian today, yet another suitor have today emerged to rival the likes of Chelsea and Milan, in the form of West Ham United.
The Hammers, who have already enjoyed an extremely productive summer thus far in terms of arrivals, previously expressed an interest in Bernard’s services at the beginning of the summer.
However, the Brazilian’s wage demands were deemed as exorbitant, with Manuel Pellegrini and co. having since opted for the likes of Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko instead as a result.
But, amid claims that Bernard could yet be persuaded to lower his contract requests, West Ham are said to once again be hot on the trail of the pacy winger.
