West Ham injury updates before Manchester City clash

West Ham vs Manchester City

West Ham will travel to Manchester City on Wednesday evening.

The Hammers head into the game 9th in the Premier League but they have won just one of their last five league games.

They did pick up a win this past weekend, although, that win came against a struggling Fulham side.

West Ham cannot move up the table with a win over City but they can slip down to 11th, should they lose.

Man City, on the other hand, will head into the game full of confidence after winning the League Cup on Sunday.

However, City did lose both Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho to injury in the final, which is a huge boost for West Ham.

West Ham injury updates

Manuel Pellegrini’s side also have a few injury problems ahead of Wednesday’s game.

Both Fabian Balbuena and Winston Reid are in the process of recovering from injuries.

However, it does not appear they will be fit for the City game. On Reid and Balbuena, Pellegrini stated:

“We have the same players we had in the last game. Balbuena and Reid have started doing part of the session with us, which is good news for them……”

Manuel Lanzini also recently returned from injury for West Ham and came on as a sub in the win over Fulham.

But it does not sound as though the Argentine is quite ready to start a game yet:

“We must be careful with Lanzini [to avoid a muscle injury]. He played 15 minutes and did very well.

“The important thing is he is not afraid of playing or worried about his knee, so we will try to give him more minutes in every game.”
