West Ham player Joao Mario has claimed that the fans were huge and a major factor in their win over Southampton at the weekend – and it showed that when the team all pull together it certainly shows that they can win games and achieve things.
The Hammers have come under a huge amount of press scrutiny recently, and it seems that they might finally be turning a corner.
“It was impressive from our supporters today,” Mario said. “I just want to say thank you to them, and let’s continue like that for the next home game against Stoke City.
“I just want them to make the difference in that game, as they did today.
“All the team wanted to change the situation from the last match here, which we lost, and it was an important phase of the week so we’re just happy to get three points today and come up the table.
“Chelsea is a really nice game against a really difficult team, but we will try to do the best as possible, and of course we will try to get some points.”
Every point at this stage of the season is huge for the Hammers, and it seems that David Moyes could well keep the club in the Premier League despite problem after problem, and injury after injury,
After picking three points up from a side also fighting for their lives in the Premier League, the Hammers have a huge platform to build on, and need to get as much from the remaining games of the season as they possibly can, before reassessing things in the summer – including the future of David Moyes, who may well pen a new deal at the club if they do stay in the Premier League.
