Supporters laud Marko Arnautovic during West Ham vs Southampton

West Ham have taken a 3-0 lead into half-time at the London Stadium this afternoon against fellow relegation strugglers Southampton.

The Hammers are desperate to put behind them the disappointment of three weeks ago when they suffered a 3-0 loss to Burnley and the ugly scenes that ensued.

David Moyes’ side have responded in emphatic style, with goals from Joao Mario and a brace from Marko Arnautovic handing the Hammers the lead.

Whilst Mario netted his first goal for West Ham United, Arnautovic was quick to double West Ham’s lead, before scoring again just before the break, much to the relief of both the club’s supporters and the board.

One man, in particular, has been singled out by supporters from different Premier League clubs for his performance this afternoon. That man is goal scorer Arnautovic.

Antonio injured

West Ham United have been dealt an early injury blow in their crucial relegation battle against Southampton.

Michail Antonio was withdrawn after just eight minutes, being replaced by Edimilson Fernandes, with the midfielder being taken to hospital after suffering, what looked to be, a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old’s season has been plagued by injury throughout, with the player subsequently making just 22 appearances in all competitions.

However, the East Londoners have been dealt a worrying injury blow with Antonio going down with a hamstring injury and then being reportedly sent off to hospital.

Antonio is a key figure in David Moyes’ side and losing him at such a crucial stage of the season could potentially hamper their chances of survival.
